It's kinda amusing you calling Jim "negative" after you make the above comments.

Stay classy.

Me! I conceived my only daughter (also named Jim Hawthorn) by the radio dashboard light while he crooned a sweet melody of LSU victory.

I will definitely miss him. Was a big part of my childhood listening to him on Sat nights, especially games not on tv. Me and my dad would sit outside and listen to Jim paint the pitcure for us. Will be a sad day when it comes next year. I had the pleasure of meeting Jim for the Ole Miss game this year, and he is a very good guy. to Jim for all he has done here at LSU.

I won't cry but I will surely miss him. He is truly the voice of the Tigers. Will be strange to hear someone else.

The guy is an LSU icon whether you love or hate him...Guess he has become like CLM in that department...I remember when he took over, and it took awhile to get used to him vs Ferguson, but like the one before him, he has done the job and now it is someone else's turn...

Good Luck to you Jim...

I never minded the Freudian slips and mis-speaks...Ali Landry for Alley Broussarard, Jack Hunt for Devrey Henderson...they made me laugh.

His depth perception in baseball could be frustrating, he and Hanni or he and Ford quarrelling like an old married couple could get old at times.

But his excitement in the good moments was genuine and I can say, my oh my, I'll miss that.

Shed a tear, probably not, but thanks for the memories Jim.

If you listen to some other pbp guys you realize that Hawethorne is not good BUT his voice is unique. It almost sounds old school.

I didn't go to many games and I hunted a lot so many of my favorite and most memorable tiger memories consisted of being in the middle of nowhere and 870 crackling over the truck radio. Hawthorne is part of those memories. Tears? Prob not but it will never be the same.

He and John Ferguson were two of the best. The old school gold standard - loved LSU.

John Fergerson and Hawthorn were both announcers with different styles. I like Hawthorn and while I won't shed a tear I enjoyed his passion. Everybody moves on. Good luck Jim!

He's all I've known in 32 years of life that I can remember LSU football. Sitting on the side porch of the duck camp listening to him call games was great. Listening to him now reminds me of those nights and its awesome
