The 2019 team won the Joe Moore award. I still wouldn't classify that unit as a dominate unit. I think the last one was the 2018 LSU team. That unit was just more physical compared to anything we have seen from LSU the last 10 years. If you take out the Alabama game that year. That was a physical unit.

Last year. Ya know, when 4 Oline men were drafted from the same class ever in LSU history.

Also couldn't run block for shite. I mean, that has to fall at Brad Davis' feet, right? You get your 4 starters all drafted, yet they couldn't open a hole for a mosquito to fly through.

2023 we had a Heisman Winner
2024 we had our third most productive year on offense in school history

So, last two years.

Serious question: Are you stupid?

Putting aside the classic “dominate”… you’re saying the 2018 OL was great but 2019 was not? That’s.. quite a take.

It was the same OL minus Garrett Brumfield, with an additional year of experience. Also our OL in 2018 was a pain point at the time, mostly due to injuries.

We still couldn't run block with all that NFL talent? Is coaching,?Is it the scheme?

I think it is both. The talent has been here.

I understand the frustration with the O- line here especially with Chester playing a position at Center he just isn’t good enough for.
Very surprised Kelly and staff didn’t have a better backup plan at center for Moore. Kind of disappointing considering how bad he was last year there.
But the bottom line is it has to be about scheme and having a decisive QB knowing where those weaknesses lie on the line so he can make the best decisions possible as quickly as possible.
For instance a guy like Joe Burrow helped our offensive line win the Joe Moore award as you mentioned, because Joe knew his line better than themselves and essentially helped them win that award.

We have the talent(minus Chester) but the scheme by coaching and QB has to know what we are capable of.

the 2018 and 2017 o lines were horrendous. did you see the ratings?

quote:

In 2017, our offensive line was 113th in the country, with a sack rate of 9.03% In 2018, our offensive line is 92nd in the country with a sack rate of 7.72%

The OL did great against Clemson and slept walk through LA Tech like the rest of the team. LSU's problem Saturday was motivation

99.999999% of the posters here have zero clue about football. They think you should blow out every team all the time or the team is terrible if they don’t. Most of them still have the maturity of a 12 year old.

Instead of repeating what you see or hear, go rewatch the games from last year on YouTube. We ran blocked fine. Our RBs had no vision.

Remember, we run zone runs. You run to the hole created, there is no designated "hole" to hit. It helps tremendously to have a RB who has patience.

Anyone suggesting 2024 clearly didnt watch that year.

1. Campbell and Jones regressed that season compared to previous year
2. Chester was the worst OLinemen we've had starting over the last decade that year
3. They could not run block ad struggled all year with that

This is not the sign of an elite/great Oline
