My original post I said that IF we win our games, then we will play in the NCG to which you replied it isn't always that simple, so clearly you disagreed with my comment.

I meant that the college football season, and the determination as to who gets to the BCSNC game is not always that simple. Surely you realize that.

Will the game still be played on sept 7 or is it moved up a week to August 31 which is labor day weekend?

Sorry, I guess I am just not at all following what you are trying to say then.

My point was that we control our own destiny so SOS wouldn't matter in that case.

Also, as I said, there are a TON of school out there with a FCS school on their schedule...FSU plays Murray State and Savannah State, Oregon played Tennessee Tech, Bama plays Western Carolina...so I don't think by having Towson on our schedule we are putting ourselves into any kind of a situation where something could bite us in the butt.

Because more TV viewers live in MD / MidAtlantic region than in Idaho? Plus, Towson has a larger enrollment and probably more alumni?

That said, I agree with your basic point about scheduling.

To say "LSU did not have a choice" is a total and complete cop out.

Potentially, yes. However, I think we all realize that because schedules are generally set many years in advance, if someone backs out at the "last minute" then a team can be in a logistical crunch in trying to fill that void. While it may not be ideal for someone like LSU to play a 1-AA school, there is an advantage to LSU scheduling a team like Towson. The advantage is financial. The "fee" to play a 1-AA school is generally much lower than it is to play a non-AQ 1-A school(like Idaho). For example, I think LSU paid almost $1,000,000 to Idaho for last week's game, while they will only have to pay Towson about $500,000. Dollars and cents wise, the amount LSU takes in for the Idaho and Towson games will probably be about the same, but the net profit for the Towson game will be higher due to the lower "rent-a-win" fee.

Where did you see this game on ESPN?

Espn gamepan, espnu

Just because you had to pay for it, doesn't mean it wasn't on cable.

Doesnt make sense. No games that are on ESPN Gameplan are broadcast on ESPNU. That is completely incorrect.

Why do people keep saying this? TCU was never on the 2012 schedule. It was always scheduled for '13 and '14 until the recent change.

I wondered the same thing. TCU was always '13 and '14. Besides, Towson was added to the schedule in August 2011. TCU wasn't voted into the Big 12 until October. So I don't know where the story even came from.

I think it is a recognition of Towson's size. They have about 20,000 students, and their campus is near to Baltimore. I did not know they have such a high enrollment.

Towson could be a better meida draw, it is the second to largest school in Maryland on the densely populated East Coast. Idaho is second fiddle in Idaho to Boise state.

I'm not sure why it matters.

Also to those talking about perception, it isn't like we are the 15th ranked team and need to beg and plead to get talked about for a national championship. All we have to do is win and we will get in.

We don't have to play touch OOC games to make it to the National Championship game. And entertaining fans with big OOC games isn't the ultimate goal of the team, winning a BCS Championship is the goal. What they are doing helps meet that goal.

Western Kentucky-Kentucky was picked up instead of LSU-Idaho. This week, there were clearly no better options for ESPNU so they just throw the #2 team on there and hope it draws in some eyeballs.

I was watching Towson and William & Mary on Saturday and had to chuckle when the announcer referred to the Towson vs. LSU game as "the big showdown".

No, he's right. Towson is FCS, or Division 1, Football Championship Subdivision. This is different from a Division II school.

Why this is so hard for so many to grasp on this message board I do not understand.

The real reason I ask this question is because I do not believe in any circumstance that LSU should be playing ANY team in Div. 1-AA.

Agreed. And if LSU does play one, keep the money in state and don't send to Maryland, North Carolina, or Illinois.

They are division one of the FCS is correct. FCS, however, is not Division 1. It used to be Division 1A and 1AA. 1A became FBS. 1AA became FCS. Towson is FCS division 1. The OP made no reference to FCS or FBS, so he was clearly saying that Towson is a former D 1AA school. A lot of people still use "D1" when referring to an FBS school. Why this is so hard for you to grasp I do not understand.

But thanks for sharing your knowledge that so many others can't grasp Mr. Football.
