I can sort of accept you’ve got a new, developing OC who will hopefully get better.

I can accept the new staff on defense needs a little time both in recruiting and development of the current roster.

What i don’t understand is how, in year 3, we look woefully, hilariously unprepared in seemingly new and inventive ways every fricking week. I know they put a lot of time in during the week. How is it they constant look like it’s their first game ever? Can someone help me out?

We have a lot of players that aren’t good playing. Being not good comes with being not good.

But it’s getting better.

I watch low p5 and g5 teams play with more cohesion and crispness every week.

try again.

Yeah, I agree. There isn’t a single part of any of the three phases of the game that I would describe as “crisp”.

They aren’t playing the same game.

Maybe if they get better they might score 36 points against a good defense on the road.

For simple instance when we had the sack strip and Harold P. picked it up. He spun the ball on ground after. I believe that is in rule book as unsportsmanlike conduct. It’s pretty much stuff like this but about once per offensive or defensive possession. Probably twice per defensive possession.

Fortunately none of the refs were looking. Keep in mind this is as we are down by a couple touchdowns to an unranked South Carolina team and trying to get anything going.

Pretty lame.

the refs quit calling that a penalty 5+ yrs ago. I am always afraid though that they will decide to call it again when it would hurt us badly. Lots of players on all teams do that often. Burns did when he recovered Ashfords fumble.

Year 3, but

Year 1 new DC; new OC

How is our special teams so bad? Our lack of depth in a couple key positions.. DL & DB & state of our special teams is a surprise to me. ST needs to be addressed.

This spring we really need to work on tackling fundamentals.

out older players have to set the example for the team. we have had bone-headed plays, penalties and mistakes by our "stars". these guys have to step up and demand their teammates do the same.

from what I know our guys have character, so this should be doable. I expect them to do better.

Seems like a mental thing going on. These kids hear and read everything said about them. I feel like they try to do too much at times instead of just playing the game. I think every year we hear someone on the defense talk about how the staff simplified things so they could just play and it seems like you see the opposite for a lot of the time. The good news is, everything we gave up on defense is fixable. We are not getting pushed around, just out of gaps at times.

That’s probably my biggest concern, making the same mistakes over and over or trying the same play in the same situation knowing it has rarely worked for us.

I'm sick of seeing opposing teams' running backs bursting through that porous line and racing down the field 70+ yards unchallenged. When is that going to stop? I mean, Sanders, Sellars, even Guggenheim for Nicholls looked like Heisman candidates against the LSU defense. Wouldn't be surprised is UCLA finds a back to spring one of those runs

I think the coaches tell our players about their dumb mistakes and the players laugh. Each player doesn’t believe the coach is talking to him.

A comedy of penalties and unforced errors.

No pride. No heart.

Same. She's iconic. The throat goat.
