I think focusing on Ford's lack of carries is pointless right now.

Based on 3 games and current college opportunities, does it look like our staff obviously misjudged talent when we took Ford over Lacey

The fact that Lacy even qualified for college was a miracle. He needed like a 7.5 GPA his senior year to get in. But apparently 3 hours of online courses is equivalent to 4 years of hs to the Alabama department of admissions.

Until I see Ford play, there's no reason to make the comparison.

because he went off against our defense in a spring game which was split up between 2 teams, neither of which had drake nevis, josh downs, kelvin sheppard, or any true freshman currently contributing. people calling for ford as the savior of the offense is a joke. "just give him 5 plays, i don't care that he doesn't know the play book" yadayadayada. the truth is, he's similar to the other backs in terms of talent, so if they know the playbook and are more trustworthy, then of course they will play over him.

It ain't no business of yours why the coach knows why and thats all the matters. Belive it or not, you mean nothing to the coach whenn they are out there on the field. The coach is paid to win and the team plays to win and thats what they are doing so you probably will never know the reason why because that isn't an important thing for the coach.
and this. it must be something he is doing or not doing in practice for them not to play him. Im not at the practice so I must trust the coaches to put in the best player to win.

Well - Mr Lacy is playing for the #1 team in the country that is in their 3rd regular season of undefeated play. He backs up a returning Heisman trophy winner and a So that is just as good.
Not sure what Ford is backing up but it is no where close to the competition that Lacy has in front of him.

Bc he is built Ford tough.

In all seriousness I guess Scott was better than keiland bc miles said so. Yet Scott can't make an NFL roster.

Obviously, Blue has done the things necessary to be the next option to run the ball

I think people should be giving Blue some props for coming in and earning snaps as a true freshman.

If Blue was a 5 star RB instead of "only" a 3 star, people wouldn't have such a big problem with Blue playing over Ford.

I'm merely pointing out that absent ON THE FIELD evidence, you really have no idea. Go to my 2005 recruiting thread.

Compare the list of 5 star RBs that year to the NFL draft corresponding years later.

Get back to me.

mean hell, I hope really is great and he may be. BUT, you'd think that with college football history literally littered with "can't miss" prospects, people would at least wait for some on field evidence before they went all in assuming that HS will definitely translate to college.

well said.

I agree with Chicken.

If the coaches thought Ford was our best back, or even our 2nd best back, he'd be playing.

It's just that simple.

Yep. I'll buy a coach favoring the upperclassman over the lower but anyone who is running with the 5s has a reason for being there.

Why was T-Bob playing over Lonergan,Williford and others.According to one former player it was because of favoritism. So sometimes it's not just the fact one is better. Some of Ford's problems getting on the field might be related to the academic side of being a football player.Seems that Ford was not taking care of the academic side as he should have.If he gets the opportunity to get on the field, we will know the real answer.

He did shred apart a great lsu defense in the spring game.

He only went up against one of the starters in the front seven (Baker). It was basically backups against backups across the front when his team had the ball.

Not that spring games mean jack shite anyway. I've never seen a fan base so consumed with the 4th or 5th string RB.

I like the way he hits the hole, based on spring game and the one or two touches he received this year. Could provide a dimension that Ridley or Murph don't.

he played over Wiliford for one game...the staff didn't want to just throw him out there for his first appearance on the 2nd play of the season. Who is playing now? It was pretty well reported that Lonergan had trouble with snaps in the shotgun during the 09 fall camp, and TBob got the nod...Who is playing now?

you need to move beyond your obsession with TBob

Blue has fumbled twice that i've seen and missed some blocks pretty bad. Trustworthy??

It is based solely on what the coaches told us the past 8 months. About how great he was, how fast and powerful.
He went through spring with basically no competition for the #2 RB spot. Blue and Ware were not on campus.

I don't mind Blue getting carries at all. But for Ford to not even see the field in mop up duty screams loud that there is an issue. Don't pump up the guy for months and then play dumb when he doesn't even get a carry with Lee.

Now this is valid.

However, based on what I saw of Ford and Ware...I would still want to see Ware over Ford.

I think Blue may eventually be very good, but agree, he has not been that outstanding this season. I would also like to see more of Ware. However, I wish we could at least see some of Ford as well--last season, they were considering taking the redshirt off him, now he's the last RB that gets in the games. If Ford continues to see such limited playing time, it would not surprise me if he transferred after this season.
