They played Vandy tough and lost two close games
Their pitching is legit, Killian coming off injury had no hitter thru 7 was pulled due to pitch count

2/3 is the goal

I'd be happy with taking 2 of 3 on the road, and I think that should be the expectation. A sweep is a great possibility too, but as we saw with Ole Miss, it's hard to sweep in the SEC, even if you're the better team. Would love for it to happen though.

McKinney and Killian are good arms.

This Arkansas team is drastically different than the typical Van Horn teams with big bodied athletes. They've given up the most stolen bases in the SEC to date so LSU will need to be aggressive on the base paths and get the starters out early.

Arkansas always plays LSU tough in any sport no matter their record and I doubt this weekend will be any different.

Trey Killian will be tough to beat, he wont pitch till Saturday more than likely and I hope we pitch Lange against him.

So we're going to throw Godfrey on Friday on 2 days fewer than normal rest? Highly doubtful.

4 days of rest should be plenty, never understood why people think pitchers need a week of rest till they can pitch again

Have you ever started and thrown 100+ pitches on a weekly basis?

Yeah they have some good starting pitching. I just think that unless the starting pitching can last a long time they won't have the bullpen to hang since they are playing 5 games in a row this week.

A lot may depend on the weather up there in hawgville. Do not want cold & rainy type weather, which is the forecast for Wed nite. But Vandy is far from over rated: they have almost everyone back from last yr's NC team & their losses for the most part have come from quality teams. That the hawgs played them tough on the road is a decent barometer of their ability, my opinion anyway.

I live in the area and they have a couple of decent pitchers, especially Killian. I try to listen to the games when I can and it seems they have a lot of trouble putting together timely hitting. They have stranded a lot of runners this year. The bullpen has also been suspect up to this point of the season. I think if we can get into their bullpen, that will bode well for our chances in Fayetteville.

Godfrey hasn't

MLB pitchers sometimes only get 4 days of rest, it's fine

2 of 3.

CPM will outcoach himself in one game, otherwise a SWEEP.

They played Vandy tuff but we have another advantage working in our favor, its a Th, Fri, Sat series and they have games on Tue and Wed. That's gonna put some stress on their pitching.

Oh. You mean the guys who have been accustomed to throwing 160+ innings within a 7 month period for at least 2 years?

Because Godfrey probably only threw about 70 innings max last year in high school. You know... where they only play about 30 7-inning games.

We want him ready for May and June. Pitching him on 4 days rest in mid-March is a huge mistake for a pitcher who is already a high-effort guy.

this. their bullpen is suspect. McKinney has talent but is young and hasn't shown the ability to go deep into games just yet. Killian is legit and coming off the injury passed his first big test at Vandy, but he will have to have a repeat performance for them to avoid the sweep on Saturday.

If we jump out on them early Friday it will definitely increase our chances for taking all three games. Their best chance to avoid the sweep will be on Saturday with Killian. However, if Lange throws like he did last Saturday and the bats don't let him down again, we can break out the brooms.
