He certainly has proven the doubters wrong, and outsmarted all other candidates for his position.

Smart =/= speaking well.

Take a break from all the hate/contrarianism.

O has not shown any ability to win big games or adjust any differently than Miles in two games with Alabama, but now is closet genius that is winning with his elite recruits. So far in big games, Florida last year and Bama, he has laid an egg, but he has outsmarted the rest of college football..

You are an idiot.

You honestly think LSU has only played 4 "big games" in the last two years? And one of them was against #22 UF but not vs#10 Auburn, vs#8 Miami, @#7 Auburn, or @#9 Texas? And then say that he must go 3-1 the next 4 games but a loss to UF would be more excusable than Auburn or Bama?

You may have a point, I was really thinking only conference games, I forgot about Auburn last year. Texas was a big game but not SEC. maybe more accurate to say he has not won the big game that puts us in the sec championship. Until he shows he can build a program to do that, we do not know what we have yet.

This is not a knock on O, I like him. I think he is making more right than wrong moves. But until he wins on the big championship stage, well I do not think we want a program that produces the 10 win seasons without championships. I am not saying he cannot do it, I think he can, just it has not shown on the field against Bama yet.

6-3 vs. Top 10 Opponents:

#1 Alabama L 0-10
#10 Auburn W 27-23
@#2 Alabama L 10-24
#8 Miami W 33-17
@#7 Auburn W 22-21
#2 UGA W 36-16
#1 Alabama L 0-29
#8 UCF W 40-32
@#9 Texas W 45-38
come on now. Last year's "top 10" wins against Miami and Auburn were nothing of the sort. Miami lost 6 games and Auburn lost 5.

This business of claiming a top 10 win "at the time the game was played" is silly. It's where they end up.

Hypothetical: we play the no. 1 team in the country the first game of the year. We win. That team goes on to a 0-12 season.

Are we still really claiming we beat a no. 1 team? I know many on this board will scream YES, but that's a complete joke.

It's where opponents finish the season that matters, when using these kinds of stats.

not including this year because we dont know where teams will end just yet but in 17 and 18 we were 2-5 against p5teams that finished the season with less than 5 losses.

How Ed Orgeron outsmarted college football

A bit of stretch. He made a great hire in Joe Brady. Before that he was shoving Ensminger, Les' TE coach, down our throats.

This whole "outsmarted college football" could be viewed very differently in a month

I think we can wait until the end of the season to determine how much he's outsmarted college football. We can all agree that he's done well up to this point.

We are finally equaling Bama and Clemson on incentives for our recruits. O is a master on the recruiting trail.

I hated the way the hire was done. Alleva just took the easy route after failing at a couple big targets. That said, coach O has been way above expectations and I couldn't be happier for him and the direction of our program.

its almost like you blame me for that stat.

for some reason we havent been good against teams that dont suck.

am I supposed to lie and say our record against P5 teams that finished with less than 5 losses, is great?
