re: How do we hire another coach if we don’t pay Kelly his buyout?

LSU doesn't have to cut a check for $53M. They have to pay BK the remainder of his contract in monthly installments. There is no indication LSU isn't abiding by the terms of the contract. They are trying to negotiate a lower, lump sum payment. Now, the means of how they are doing that is a different discussion. But LSU is not "stiffing" BK right now

Why you come here and assume LSU isn't paying Kelly's buy out?
You are leaping into to shite you have no personal knowledge of. Because Kelly's lawyers are negotiating doesn't mean there is any kind of payment issues. Are you 12 years old?

If you screw Kelly on his buyout, say goodbye to even thinking you can talk to guys like Kiffin, Heupel or Key or Dillingham.
The word out will be:
LSU loves it football and wants to win, but when the people down there grow tired of you, and they will grow tired of you, just remember they will find a way to back track on ANY deal at the drop of a hat

Given BK will likely invest considerable funds, he can get a high return on investing a large sum now. The stock market is hot now especially in AI stocks. This is good news for BK from an investment perspective. So he may be willing to take quite a bit less that the $50sh million as a lump sum payment because he can invest and come out better than if he kept the existing contract.
Who wanna do all that???… he rich already… if that’s the plan he could do that now… BK probably just want all his money can’t nobody blame him for that

Well, he'd have to agree to take less or be fired for cause.
I’ve been following sports my whole life. I’ve never really understood how, in every other walk of life, underperforming at your job is fireable for cause, yet in sports, it isn’t.
Kelly is a con artist who came here to collect fat stacks. He was going to put in the minimum effort he had to from Day One. Is anyone really surprised that’s he’s being a dick about this?

We’re now in a big mess over Kelly’s $53 million buyout. He says we owe all of it and we don’t want to pay it all, but we didn’t get that worked out before we fired him.
As I understand, the contract calls for it to be paid out monthly, as if he were still coaching here. Kelly wants a lump sum so he can just take another job somewhere without mitigation. LSU should tell him (very publicly) that they’re living up to their end of the contract and if he doesn’t like that, then he can kick rocks. See you in court.

This is true. I think "cause" would specific in his contract. Underperforming isn't on there apparently.

My understanding is the 54 gets offset from any job he takes. If he gets a multi year contract that pays him 7 million a year, we only owe him the difference monthly.
If we owe him 9 a year, subtract the 7, so only @167k a month, or 12 million over 6 years.
If he doesn’t work again, he may be better off with the whole 54, but he still would negotiate down for a lump sum.

I think he thought he would be able to get another job pretty easily. Now, that he sees that's not a viable option, he wants that full buyout.

Where do you idiots get this shite from?

Why would another coach come jere if we can fire him like this and then not pay the buyout?
Kelly is getting paid, he doesn’t want to negotiate his buyout any more unless he gets more than liquidated damages.
Most coaches would probably be fine with making $80M in 5 years and be free to work anywhere he wants the next day, which is what Kelly has been offered. It may be the best contract ever

Until any true leadership emerges in this program, expect little more than a dumpster fire. The offense has to be the worst I have seen at LSU going back more than 40 years. Good heavens they had almost no talent and are evidently poorly coached. Everyone involved in that side of the ball should be ashamed. It is ugly.

LSU is one of the top jobs in the country to what coach would want to come here
would yall get a hold of yourselves and relax...jeesh it's embarrassing how fragile some of you are.

He’ll get it over the next 6 years.
If he wants a different payment plan, he has to negotiate
