Perhaps I missed the memo, but why? Arkansas is playing Missouri. They could have put us playing against Arkansas so at least that dumbass boot trophy is at stake this week. Just seems like a weird choice.

It's what happens when you have to blue bloods who's biggest rival in the conference has a bigger rival within the conference.

I’m guessing the idea was that this is a transitional period and LSU vs OU would be a good marquee matchup while everything shakes out.

LSU has rivalries. But all of our rivalries have bigger rivals.

Tulane would have been our big rival had they stayed in the SEC

I must have missed the memo, when Arkansas became our rival?

The SEC tried to make LSU-Arkansas a thing when Arkansas joined the SEC in 1992, but it never felt like a rival to LSU.

I actually wouldn’t mind this game becoming our end of the year rivalry game. Two national powerhouses with lots of history. With Arkansas and A&M, it was like having a rivalry with your little brother or something. Like how about we have a rival who’s on the same level as us.

Who would LSU want to play to end the season? Everytime we play somebody like Arky or A&M; we say they are below us or aren’t rivals. LSU can’t be made happy.

There are 4 teams in the league who don’t have a traditional “end-of-year” rival”: LSU, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri. Pick which one you would like to play.

Personally, of that group I like Oklahoma.

One day OSU and OU will play again and that will be OU’s final game of the year.

Arkansas gets you fired up as a rival?

Dang bro, never gotten fired up to play Arkansas or given two shits about them.

I’d rather play Oklahoma on the last game of the year over Arkansas as a football fan.

Weird take…

The conference is trying to force new rivalries.

They should have done LSU/Arkansas and Oklahoma/Mizzou. Makes so much sense that it hurts

Texas' main rival is Oklahoma, but they play much earlier. LSU has no traditional rival who doesn't have a bigger rival much like texas A&M TBH. The inly difference is A&M looks at Texas as their biggest rival, like LSU looks at Bama. Serendipity works in A&Ms favor since the Red River Rivalry is earlier than this week.

LSU/Tulane would be like Georgia/Georgia Tech if we played that every year to end the season. It would be the only real option for an end-of-year rivalry game that the other fanbase would look at as a game they circled. I am just not sure LSU fans want to play at Tulane every other year.

A&M got there for their fanbase, I think, when LSU had its way with them under Les and O until 2018 but the thought of beating them will never be as big for them as LSU will ever be.

So

Agreed.

Then LSU fans will bitch about playing either Arkansas or Mizzou to end the season.

Get over the “arch rival” issue. LSU doesn’t have one.

Because Arky belongs with mizzybilt.
Aggy belongs with Texas.

Oklahoma and LSU fits just fine. Looking forward to playing a recent addition blueblood.

This should be rivalry weekend.

The so called rivalry with Tulane has to be the lamest rivalry in the history of NCAA football. Always hated that game. Tulane is an afterthought in the world of college football.

This board has been obsessed with TRADITION over the last couple of weeks as per uniforms. Let's extend the tradition issue, to include our long-standing traditional rival, up to 2009: Tulane.

Tulane-- last game of the season, alternating between Tiger Stadium and the M-B Superdome-- now that's tradition!
