From a physical standpoint, C is the least demanding of line positions. So if he can get the snap & the calls, it’s on.
Wrong! Stick to fkn basketball Lester Earl
A line is as strong as it’s weakest link. Weight room reports that Liam is strong as a fkn Bull. With Hines on his right and Ingram on his left he’s gonna be an awesome OL QB — He’s 6’5” 310 - prototype NFL Center metrics and tough as a Bog Irish Hick.
Center is the toughest nastiest and grittiest job on that OL Lester Earl.
Wake the phuck up
DL are getting bigger faster and stronger every year Lester Earl — A weak Center will be attacked — The days of having a T-Bob at Center are over.
Look at the Saints Center — Unger was an iron man lasting 10 years! Centers don’t last long nowadays Lester Earl. They last almost as long as RBs.
The ones like Unger who do last are strong as fkn bulls and tough as bog Irish hicks.
Got it?

You just made up an argument about a bunch of stuff I never said.
Kinda like when you made up that Shanahan looked good snapping the ball in the spring.
When he wasn’t even on campus yet lol.

wouldn't say 100% because you never know with injuries and what not, but looks like he has already moved into the starting lineup at center and will be starting in the SEC for LSU this coming season. So there for, I would say pretty confident.
Do you have some other information on this that makes you doubt that he will be starting?
I guess you could say that with the corona virus that he won't be starting, as no one will be starting, if we don't have a season. So there could be that angle.

As confident as I was that Burrow was going to be a really good QB at LSU and start the QB trend we were so desperate for, for so long. I’m not sure why I was so confident but it just seemed like the pieces were coming together at that time and he just so happened to be the guy who fell into place here. But then after the practice reports started to surface, I was sure that he was going to change things for us at the QB position.
Now I’m not saying this cat is even remotely on that level BUT I’m confident that he will fill that void for us and do it at a high level. We needed that void filled and he needed a team that would get him exposure.
Trust me, this kid didn’t make this move for LSU’s benefit. He’s very aware that this is his shot at the NFL and all eyes will be on him. He’s also surrounded by a really good OL, will be tossing the ball to a really good QB, making holes for some of the best RB’s and protecting the guy behind him so he can throw to the best WR’s in the country.
He’s going to be just fine. He’s not already starting for no reason. Our coaches know talent when they see it, no matter their previous competition. He happens to be a really smart young man as well. He’s mature and will bring that leadership role with him.
The two transfers that we brought in are going to make a significant impact to their units respectively. Great job filling those voids by our staff. Coach O keeps proving that he is the right man for the job.

Our S&C program doesn't hurt either... or the cutting edge science being used (in conjunction with Med staff & school).

I trust the coaches on this. It’s not like LSU and Harvard are swapping rosters, its one guy. Some of the best players in the NFL are from lower division schools or didn’t play much in college and are studs. Not everyone is from LSU, Alabama or Ohio State. More from those schools than others but well selected good talent can come from anywhere.

Brett Helms was a 3yr starter at LSU.
He was 6’2” 280.
Liam will be ok

The minute they put the pads on and he has to go against this interior d-line the staff will know everything they need to right away.
Posted on 7/29/20 at 9:14 am to LSU_30A
If you think our d-line sucks then there could be a worry with him being named the starter.
I think our d-line is very very good so in turn I think he did just fine and earned the nod.

I’m as confident as Coach Cregg!
Shelvin will get him SEC ready

Not picking on you specifically, but this is a huge copout that really shouldnt be used on a messageboard. If applied across the board, we wouldnt have much to talk about.

Is there any word on Shanahan working with Shelvin, Ika, etc. on their own? Unofficially getting that work in?
Like the QBs and WRs do.
Might have already proven he is SEC caliber.

Lots of arm_chair experts in this thread considering the team hasn't really practiced due to Covid. It is interesting that Hines is moving back to guard, especially with the lack of practices. We are stacked with quality at guard.
The coaches must be confident not only that Liam is our starting center but that Evans and Turner are adequate depth. Seems like a bold move at this time of the year. Especially, considering what Covid could do to our lineup any given week. Just an observation. Don't think I know more than the coaches.

you don't throw a guy in that position unless you are sure about him. that's the most important position on either line.

Look, I was as skeptical as anyone when O got the job. But he’s more than proven that he can get the job done.
If he thinks Shanahan can start in the SEC, then Shanahan can starry in the SEC.

I do too, but the coaches have never seen him against that level of competition. Until they get pads on , the coaches don't know.

You do realize that every single day in practice he goes against Tyler Shelvin and Apu Ika huh?
He has never once gone against either of these guys.

If he can go at Shelvin and Ika daily and win a starting kid he should do okay
