Very similar to our LSU team. Explosive offense, but defense struggles

No

Week 1

Bengals lose 16-10

Week 2

Bengals lose 26-25

However, bengals offense gave up 7 of those points

Only week 3 is comparable

The head coach is the big issue.

Their defense except for when they played the Chiefs have not been able to get key stops. The interior injuries hasn't helped things. But their defense had more holes in it than Swiss cheese.

Well in this game their defense was bad. But the defense definitely gave the offense the opportunity to win the first two games. I love Joe as much as the next LSU fan but no need to rationalize to the extent some have in this thread. he was frankly bad the first game and it the second game the d got a key stop and the offense had an opportunity to run the clock out and could not get the first down they needed, A key play in that sequence was Joe throwing a pass behind the receiver.

And Chase did not help things with his Shenanigans and game 1 he was rusty from his holdout. So when the question arises How can the Bengals be this bad with Chase and Joe, you can't exclude them from the reasonsthey are 0-3.

Zac Taylor is not a very good coach.

This is always the ignorant answer. It’s the organization!!!!!! They are cheap as frick!!! They let every single decent defensive player walk, because they didn’t want to pay them. They let Mixon walk, because they didn’t want to pay him.

How can any coach do well when they are playing with half a deck of cards???
Put the blame in the proper place. The Bengals organization is cheap!!

Joe & Chase did not allow the opponents to score 30+ points.

You can only blame the defense for one loss

Their defense isn't that bad. Even after last night they are ranked 13th in total defense. For reference, that is 8 spots BETTER than the Saints. The scoring defense isn't so good. But giving up 38 points in 1 of 3 games will really hurt the average.

The Bengals always suck in week 1. That's on them.

Winning at KC (which they almost did) is incredibly tough

Last night though they just got carved up by a great offensive performance. Daniels is tough to defend as is because of his running ability. If you get him on a night where he's not missing any passes either, then there is no defense that can stop him. You can't sell out on the /pass rush because he can take off for 35 yards. You hesitate to go full man coverage because if he gets out of the pocket and everyone's back is turned he's going to run for 40 yards. Ends can't crash on a zone read because he'll pull the ball and literally skip into the endzone. Hell, on the last TD the Bengals blitzed and it him. He was just able to deliver a perfect pass despite the defender bearing down on him.

That won't happen every week in the NFL. But we were front row witnesses to hit last year. When Daniels is accurate and decisive throwing the ball there is very little a defense can do. There is a reason Washington is the first team in the Super Bowl era to go two consecutive games with no punts and no turnovers. It can be almost impossible to stop Daniels from moving the ball when he's on.

three losses by total of 12 pts... gotta do a better job of stopping the opponent from scoring.

However, they lost last night because they traded TDs for FGs a couple times and missed on to boot

Game 1 Joe was off for a number of reasons, injury, rust, etc. But Game 2 there were key drops that led to drives being halted. Joe was not the reason for the loss in either game 2 or 3.

The defense has not been good, they were not very good last season and outside the Chiefs game this season have not been very good. Don't misrepresent things. Joe and Co. always start slow and against Washington the offense was actually very efficient but when your defense cannot get a single stop or force field goals at the minimum it becomes very difficult to win those games.

So yes Joe is a reason they have a loss due to his performance in game 1 but it would be irresponsible to not blame the organization for a lot of the problems with Chase, Tee Higgins, and the Defense.

Fully healed and played and practiced fully in the pre-season the thought being it would get him off to a better start - it did not - he was not very good in the first game, we can offer up supporting rationalizations but in the end he has some responsibility in that. He was not good. Again I say this as a fan and supporter, but it's a fact.

Agreed and there were key missed throws as well, specifically on the last drive where the Bengals could have run out the clock had they gotten one more first down.

The reasons as you say are many and varied, but we - as is absolutely expected as this is an LSU site, are going to try to distance our boys from as much of the responsibility as possible, but honestly they are part of it.

They will also be a big part of the reason they storm back and start winning again.
