Possibly, but if they go with one permanent opponent from each pod, I think we get paired with Oklahoma and A&M gets paired with Texas. So we would probably only play them once every 3 years in football.

But Baseball & Basketball would probably still play every year

I'm glad you're not in charge. What would LSU's schedule be in this situation?

Huge-this is the two flagship from neighboring states. We fight over the same recruits. Been waiting for this one-turn it up.

I hate how a bunch of you high jacked this thread into a conference divisions alignment thread as if we didn’t have enough of those.

This is about LSU VS UT. Louisiana vs Texas. The rivalry is going to heat up like crawfish being dumped into a red hot rolling boil.

Don't hold your breath too long waiting on these.

For years now, Southeastern Conference football has been synonymous with at least three things: rabid fan bases, championships and CBS television coverage.

Starting in 2024, the call letters identified most with the league are in for a change.

The conference has agreed to a 10-year, multimillion-dollar contract with ESPN and ABC that begins with the 2024 football season, ending what will be a near-two decades run with CBS for a heftier payout and more game flexibility.

Though terms were not disclosed, ESPN’s annual fee is expected to be in the low $300 million range, according to Sports Business Journal, a considerable and expected increase from the $55 million per year that the conference receives from CBS—a bargain deal that was struck in 1996. CBS pulled out of negotiations this spring after the price tag got too high, SBJ reported.

My wife is a UT grad, them moving to the SEC could cost me my marriage. She will be the enemy.

Remains to be seen. At once time LSU big rivalry game was Old Miss and now somewhat with Auburn and Alabama but all three have bigger rivals on their schedules. Arkansas, not so much. Right now, other than Alabama who is LSU’s biggest rival? Auburn is biggest rival of Alabama. Maybe Texas-LSU will blossom into big time rivalry.

Four pod winner teams w/semifinal game. Prefer just east-west winners in championship. On national stage any others could still be in hunt for NC anyway.

Do yourself a favor and go to the Texas Relays. You’ll get first hand what they think of themselves knowing they used to get their asses handed to them even when they had Guidry. LSU Women owned their asses for 2 decades.

Georgia and Auburn play every year as well as A&M and Texas. Alabama and LSU remain. LSU and Florida remain. Ark and SC return. Miss State and Kentucky remain. Tenn and Kentucky remain. Alabama and Florida become a rivalry outside of the SECCG where they met more than anyone else. To me, this is the most obvious solution.

LSU vs Bama wouldn’t have higher precedence over tenn vs Bama.

This is a profound point, because UT can survive without Louisiana recruits, but LSU without Texas recruits, not so much.
