Not only in football but also baseball and basketball. This is a natural rival to us coming into the SEC. Big fan base. Big money. Big games. Not gonna lie I’m pretty damn fired up for it. Oklahoma also but obviously to a different degree.

LSU VS TEXAS is going to move the needle. Prime time or 230 CBS is almost always guaranteed.

Possibly, but if they go with one permanent opponent from each pod, I think we get paired with Oklahoma and A&M gets paired with Texas. So we would probably only play them once every 3 years in football.

Obviously nothing is official... All of the PODs I've seen floating around have

LSU, 8T4, Miss, and State.

OK, TX, Ark, Miz

Bama, AUB, Tenn, Vandy

UF, UGA, SC, KY

The only issue I see there is AUB and UGA are separated. I remember hearing that was a thing...

If we win 9 out of 10 games, this isn’t a rivalry.

Next question.

When were the pigs a rivalry game for LSU? Surely you aren't referring to that fabricated battle of the boot.

But not if each team has a permanent opponent from each other pod. We would then have a 9 game SEC schedule and most rivalries remain intact.

My suggestion would be the following, wherein the columns are the pods and the row are the permanent cross-pod opponents. Georgia and Auburn play every year as well as A&M and Texas. Alabama and LSU remain. LSU and Florida remain. Ark and SC return. Miss State and Kentucky remain. Tenn and Kentucky remain. Alabama and Florida become a rivalry outside of the SECCG where they met more than anyone else. To me, this is the most obvious solution.

LSU Alabama Florida Oklahoma
A&M Auburn Georgia Texas
State Tenn Kentucky Mizzou
Ole Miss Vandy S Carolina Ark

The ONLY fair way to divide the SEC in fball and keep the Ala-Tenn-AU-UGA old rivalries is to:

(1) Move Ala and AU to the SECE and.

(2) Move Mizzou to the SECW and add OU/TX to the SECW.

I think LSU v Texas is going to become huge. There is no way both teams will not always be solid plus the fan bases.
The other sports will be great also. Good addition to our future schedules.

Scatback's is the one that makes the most sense. LSU will not be so lucky as to be the only lead dog in the four pods. They will make sure there are two solid lead dogs in each pod:
Okla-TX
LSU-ATM
Alabama Auburn (Tennessee)
Florida-Georgia

That is the easy part. The hard part is do you have permanent opponents in each of the other three pods or just rotate among the other 12 teams, where you'd play your permanent 3 pod opponents and then play each team every two years.

Or do you pick one permanent opponent in the other three pods? For example,
LSU-Arkansas, Alabama, Florida
ATM - Texas, Auburn, SC
Miss St - Mizzou, Tennessee, Georgia
Ole Miss - Oklahoma, Vandy, Kentucky

It won't be "fair" with permanent opponents but you preserve rivalries. Just depends on what is valued more: fairness or preserving rivalries....it's hard to do both.

Other than UUB / UGA, there really isn't any need for a permanent cross opponent. That crap was all designed to keep Bama and Tenn playing every year. Although, the certainly put some effort into the matchups.

Agree Scatback. AUB-GA and ATM-TX are the only two rivalries that matter. As an LSU fan, I'm fine playing Alabama/Florida every other year rather than annually. The SEC presidents have some difficult decisions to make. It's fun speculating though!

I don’t understand the pod system. How do you determine the 2 teams playing for the SEC championship?
