With House it was mainly scheme oriented. Now with Baker will see a much more aggressive approach. That alone will improve about 30 spots.

Then the players really like Baker which will help with effort and tackling. Players had very little respect for House and it showed.

We will have a drop off in offense too. Jayden converted so many downs from his legs, we wont have that option. I'm hoping the improvement in Defense makes up for the drop off in offense with departing Heisman winner.

It can’t be much worse. I expect a big jump from where they were

If we can grab a couple of good DT’s in the portal after spring, it’s not unrealistic for us to be a top 60 defense. The coaching improvements alone should be worth a 10-15 spot increase.

LSU went from #69 in total offense in 2018 to #1 in 2019 with the the same basic lineup.

Probably 70s in the first half of the season and hopefully into the top 40s by the end of the season.

We won't know until after spring. I expect depth to be addressed with after-spring transfers.

Anything less than top 20 is unacceptable.

What drop off? The Nuss Bussers say he's better than Jayden!

They can’t get worse. The only stops we made were due to teams not having practiced against air.

Baker's first year at Mizzou I think our defense was in the 50-60 range. We were around 30 last year. He'll get your guys to play fast, no doubt about that. Here's a 10 minute video from a series they did on Mizzou last spring. This episode focuses on Baker and the defense.

Baker's coaching style

Roger that..

Defense line with 2 full time coaches motivated...HUGE IMPROVEMENT

Secondary, we shall see...big questions unanswered but I'm optimistic

LB, time to make the money MR. D coordinator. I'm optimistic.

Questions YES, but our Dline by Bama will be better and if they're eating, all of our Defense will benefit

Oh and Mr. PERKINS will be FUN to watch. Like a Hyena ...

Top 50, maybe top 35. Enough talent to do that. Coaching was that bad or even missing part of the year last year.

Reasonable expectation would be to break into the 80’s somewhere for total defense

True. But there was a lot of great, returning, talent that was being misused by an antiquated OC. While I think House did an absolutely horrible job last season and LSU's talent was bottom 1/3rd of the country bad, I don't think there is talent comparable to the 2019 offense returning on defense this season. That said, there should be enough talent to at least get into the 50 - 60 range
