I would think in total football is pretty consistent across the board. Corners cover, ends rush the passer, etc. It's going to look similar, but it's all about what you call and when you call it, and Jones clearly didn't do a very good job. But to be fair, his players didn't really help him out either.

The dude could very well end up being a brilliant technician and he fixes all of these players fundamental issues, but may never be able to call a game. Or it could be the exact opposite.

I don’t see why the hell Jones didn’t use Mike Jones. It made zero sense.

I warned "you people" about Daronte Jones. An NFL DB Coach is NOT an SEC DC. Anybody that is NOT 100% delusional with their head buried in the sand knows exactly why he was hired.....

I agree. I prefer currently successful DCs. Not sure why LSU couldn’t get this with either hire. I never liked the Pelini hire, because he hadn’t been a successful DC in a long time. This hire was even more risky than that.

I’m sure he is a great position coach, but not ready to be a DC

Nothing has really changed since last year.

This is the play that broke the Tigers. look how open the middle was, all night long.
Sorry, accidently left my zoom lens at home, but this one is nice for seeing the issue.

I think it was the third play of the game where they morioned a guy out, and Baskerville followed him…one on one…30 yard gain…knew it was gonna be another long year defensively.

The DL can get pressure, but can’t stop the run. LBs and safeties are beyond bad. I expect a big play to happen whenever 4 and/or 21 are on the field.

Will say this, their TE is an absolute badass. He dominated.

I recall off the top of my head 2 throws at our corners

1 pick by Ricks

1 PBU on a slant by Flott

Basically matchup on the LBs/safeties and profit

He’s so bad he ran the exact same shite Pelini did except he didn’t blitz.

Remember that first bomb UCLA connected on? All Chip Kelly did was use motion to determine our defense was in man and had the QB check to a mesh play or run play that had our trash linebackers covering their freak tight end. It was like taking candy from a baby. It was sort of like the Mississippi State game. Matter of fact, it was exactly like that. Then after stretching our defense out horizontally with all the motions, he went to their west coast power game using 2 and 3 TE sets and ran the ball down our fricking throat.

Your cornerbacks and safeties shouldn’t be running back and forth across the formation before the fricking ball is snapped. We should’ve played 2 of our young fast linebackers with a 3 safety look and just bumped the coverage. It’s not fricking rocket science.

I don't know how bad he is. Maybe LSU is not as talented as we think they are. Maybe the personnel decisions are Coach O, not Jones.

Here is what I see, when Saban promoted Golding and Alabama's defense struggled, Saban can sit down and say hey Pete, here when the offense motioned out of X formation and got into Y, you should have gotten into this front, and LB's move here and Coverage go from A to B.

Alabama never has a talent drop off on D, but over time Golding a talented young coach is getting mentored by his HC (Saban). Can O mentor a young DC?

At some point some of this crap has to be laid at the feet of the Head Man.

Bingo. It’s O’s defense! Just like Miles with the offense.

Looks at #4 in no mans land again. He might be the single worst player in O's tenure, yet they keep trotting his arse out there. At least Clark looked good under Aranda with less responsibilities.

#4 not only looks lost all the time, he physically cannot make plays even when he is there. This program is in big trouble people.

It’s worth noting that Ed’s first choice for DC, Marcus Freeman, saw his ND defense collapse the 4th qtr. giving up 19 puts to FSU to send game in OT. ND won in OT.

I'll put it this way...ucla beat us by running the ball right at us and throwing simple crossing routes all night long. We couldnt even adjust to those two things in order to stop them or at least slow them down and make them try something else. Thats how bad.
