In the day’s when only Jumbo Sports broadcasted Tiger baseball, we were extremely fortunate to have a good broadcast team to do the games. Rollins and Rantz were great. Now we see Rollins with Ben a lot and they are even better.

That’s because he’s crap, and I really don’t get the love for him that The Rant has. He’s decent, and I like the hometown feel, but he really tries way too hard about 70% of the time.

I like to hear him say it. To me, it brings some "umph" to the broadcast, and adds levity to a somewhat boring game. I just imagine what he would have said if he was the announcer on the 2019 LSU Football games...John Ferguson often referred to someone carrying the ball as "carrying the mail." (Ferguson and Hawthorne had such recognizable voices I could be hundreds of miles away and still pick out their voices in the midst of static). Rollins seems to have that uniqueness in his. Now just compare his to many of the voices on broadcasts of other SEC Teams. I'd take our LSU announcers any day.
