That ballgame was 3-0 going into the bottom of the 6th last night. Could you imagine how tense things would’ve been if Noot had started that game as some wanted. Look at what happened to Ole Miss and Southern Miss who both pitched off.

....But then ignore what happened to Texas, Ark, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Florida St., UCLA and Coastal?

If you're gonna cherry pick stats, pick em all

UALR starter was a good pitcher. Glad we pitched a better one.

You nor anyone else have any idea what would have happened if someone different had started the game.

Having 2 studs on mound should shut down any narrative about saving pitchers

Texas, arkansas, auburn, miss state, clemson, and florida st all pitched off and won, some of them comfortably. Acting like there is only one correct way to do this is retarded

Yeah, pitching off, except in a few isolated cases, is a relic of the days when the talent level in college baseball was much lower, and the gap between haves and have-nots was much greater.

ETA: “Relic” is the wrong word, because it’s still being done, but it’s not an automatic thing like it used to be.

Winning the first 2 games is always the goal of a regional if you have a legit 1a 1b option like we do why would you pitch off? Anderson pitches today, we win and then our bullpen headlined by guys like Evans and shores get to shine against whatever these teams can muster up Sunday while playing their fourth game.

Pitching off would have been playing scared of losing today which this team doesn't need to do.

This is the rare barstool argument I have no opinion on. I wouldn't have been bummed to see someone like Noot on the hill last night, but I wasn't throwing beer cans at the TV when it was Eyanson.

This. People acting like one way is head and shoulders above the other is dumb. When in reality, maybe there are multiple different ways that a #1 seeded team can both win and lose a regional. The strategy can vary year by year based on team in your regional, who your pitchers are, how good your offense is, etc.

Btw to the OP, LSU technically “pitched off” last night…

It’s not going to end the idea. It worked out perfectly this time as CJJ practically has a fully loaded bullpen for the rest of the regional. Other teams pitched off a won but pitched some of their valuable bullpen arms. I’m sure there will be times where it makes sense for CJJ to pitch off and he actually does it. There is always a little give and take. We have a fully loaded pen but are down Eyanson

Win today with one of the best pitchers in the nation and it’s a really uphill battle for anyone else in the regional.

More 1 seeds pitched off than not, and this year probably wasn’t different than any other year.

I mean looking at all the stats the teams that pitched their Ace were 100%. The team that pitched off were not. All 4 1 seed losses pitched off

We did pitch off.

We started the Saturday guy instead of the Friday night guy.

Fortunately for us, there is practically no difference between the two.
