5 losses minimum.

8-4. Anything less and he can pack his shite too. This is L-S-fricking-U.

My three expectations for 2022:
1. Beat Florida State in the opener: we have equal or
better personnel, supposedly better coaches, and home
venue, so zero excuse to lose that game and tank
Brian Kelly's LSU legacy from the jump.
2. Play our asses of on both sides of the ball on every
snap.
3. Execute better every week, including smart weekly
strategic adjustments.
These should add up to 8-4 or 9-3, at minimum, absent a lot of bad breaks. But our overall record is not my immediate concern.

Jesus, you think things won’t improve at all from last season to this one? I understand tempering expectations but that’s ridiculous. We went 6-6 in the regular season with a lane duck coach and we were a hand full of plays from winning more games. Lost by a hair to Auburn, Arky and Bama. It’s not a big reach to think a good coach could push us over some of those humps.

I have been saying 9-3 for the last few months. The talent is there to do that.

8-4 if they beat FSU.
I see LSU going 4-4 in the conference. The SEC West will be excellent this year, and you add TN’s best team in a long time.
I don't see a conference game on the schedule and say, “that's a win.”

Basically the 2010 season with better offense essentially.

I’m not sure I entirely agree that the west will be great. Elite at the top, sure. But State is very winnable. Who knows what auburn will be this year but that’s another winnable game. How does Ole Miss replace corral? Arkansas seems to be winnable. LSU has had floridas number. I think LSU’s d line keeps them in a ton of games and I could see LSU getting to double digit W’s including a bowl. With some breaks, they could maybe hit 10 in the regular season.
FSU - W
Southern - W
Miss State - W
New Mexico - W
Auburn - W
UAB- W
Ole Miss - W
Florida - W
Split Bama, A&M, Tennessee & Arkansas.

I didn't say they weren't winnable. Would you be shocked if LSU lost any of those listed games? SEC Road games are far from a given. State returns a ton of experience and is poised to have a good year.
I just see a bunch of tossups minus bama when I look at the schedule.

I honestly believe we are going to shock a lot of people. We have the playmakers on both sides of the ball.I would honestly not be shocked if we only had 2 losses.I think 8 wins is a lock but obviously wouldn’t be shocked if we went 10-2,our QB play and O-Line will be the determining factors of our success this season

Let's keep it realistic.
To answer OP, 8-4.
This is the first time since Saban was hired that I can honestly say that 4 losses is not only realistic, but would not totally piss me off.
You nailed it. There is just too many question marks with all of the transfers and lack of talent in the secondary, LB'ers, and O-line. When was the last time we went into a season without an All-SEC corner?

8-4.....9-3 to 10-2 if things go right.
7-5 if a couple games go wrong.

Everybody needs to go watch the LSU vs. Ole Miss highlights on YouTube from 2021 starting at the 19 minute mark. What they will see is Nuss making next level NFL throws to Jack Bech, Jontre Kirkland, Jaray Jenkins, Brian Thomas, Jr, and Malik Nabers as he led LSU's offense to two quick scores.
As Nuss' mechanics are flawless. Nuss gets the ball out of his hands extremely fast. He makes great decisions and he is very accurate. In fact, Nuss didn't look like a true freshman at all, but like a future first rounder with elite arm talent.
If Nuss is named the starter and plays like he did in that Ole Miss game last year throwing the ball to Kayshon Boutte, Jack Bech, and Malik Nabers out in space, and with the offensive line being significantly better and with John Emery toting the rock, LSU's offense will not only be high powered but almost impossible to stop.
Hence, if Nuss is the starter, I don't see LSU losing more than two games. If Brennan and Daniels are the starter, on the other hand, then yeah, 8 & 4 is about the best LSU fans can hope for.

Florida State has a prior "warmup game."
We have a bunch of coaches and players who have never worked together in a live game and are installing two new systems, we absolutely could lose that game.
I expect there to be a lot of sloppiness early on just because of those things, the team should look better as the year goes on though.

8-4 with a bowl win to make us 9-4! Would be a good start to the BK era!
Posted on 7/11/22 at 9:21 am to lesgeaux
Over under should be 7-5. Thinking 8-4 is probably the realistic answer.
People forgot that while LSU has struggled the last two years, very rarely were we so outmatched that we were not in the game. See Auburn, Arkansas, and Alabama last year. This team has talent and combined with coaching can produce.
We still have holes and lack of depth, but depending on QB play, we could also shock some people and end in the 10 win range.

Realistically I think 8-4 or 9-3 with a bowl win would be a good first year. They have the talent on the coaching staff and on the field to do much better but with basically a brand new system on both sides of the ball, I don't think it's realistic to expect 10-2 or better although it is possible.

7 wins is the baseline.
Anything above that is good, with increasing orders of magnitude with each win over 7. Anything under 7 is bad, with increasing orders of magnitude in the opposite direction. 7 wins exactly won't be cause to throw a parade...but it wouldn't be cause to burn down the football facility either.
Personally, I think LSU goes 8-4. But that prediction assumes a win over FSU. If LSU loses that game I think 7-5 is the likely result.
