He doesn’t look like Skenes, but his precision on the mound is elite.

He’s looks so comfortable out there.

I wonder if SEC staff could be:
Friday - Holman
Saturday - Jump
Sunday - Coleman

Thatcher out of the pen??

Somebody here said he didn’t have elite stuff. That is BS, he is elite at the college level for sure.

It’s his command that makes him so good. Not giving up free passes allows him to work with that high fastball and low and away slider

I believe I said something a long the lines a few weeks ago that Hurd was going to be our high ceiling with elite but inconsistent stuff, and Holman would be our steady and consistent guy. I’ll fess up, and find my quote to see if it was me lol

quote:

My keys to this team will come down to our arms. 1st off i feel like Hurd will be our biggest arm and Holman will be our steady and reliable guy. If Hurd can stay aggressive in the zone and get ahead early in the counts, he’s dominant. He gets in trouble when he gets behind and predictable. ...

Was it this quote that I said in before the season?

I will try to find it. Here it is.
“He doesn’t have amazing stuff”
quote:

He threw 77 pitches in 7 innings of work. He doesn’t have amazing stuff, but he seems calm and collected out there.

We were so spoiled by Skenes last year. My god he was unbelievable.

Holman has been impressive. Excited to see him progress this year.

His location on high fastballs is money. That sets everything else up

It was pretty funny hearing Blum last night say that Holman needs to be precise with his fastball because he only touches the 93-94 range.

Altho he has since recanted and eaten crow id thought id throw these "hot takes" up for yalls consideration

from reowned OT-Lounge poster/baseball scout tgrbaitn08
(Links provided in case you wanna go downvote)

quote:

His best pitches are 4 seem fast balls and an occasional slider and curve ball.

His fastballs touch 93mph

SEC hitters will eat him alive

LINK

quote:

I realize he pitched in the SEC, my point is he’s a one trick pony and will be an excellent reliever. He won’t be a starter against teams that matter ...

His command and his demeanor reminds me of Greg Maddux.

Effortless, dotting the zone where he wants when he wants.
About as a 'complete' W last night that we have seen.
GREAT pitching, superb situational hitting & power, and execellent D almost puntucated by an amazing effort by Kling on that fly ball.

He's exceeding my expectations by a lot. Last night was a DOMINANT performance.

If he's going to pitch like this all year, this team just answered one of it's biggest questions.

Because they were comparing him to Skenes. A pitcher like that is rarely seen at the college level.

Holman is a damn good pitcher.
