I wouldn’t go that far, Jeaux, but I like your enthusiasm.

A 2014 8-5 Auburn team says hello at 41-7, not to mention an arse mauling by Moo U that year only made respectable by Mullen calling off the dogs. It doesn't mean much because a single game snapshot is just that, a snapshot.

Huh?

The point is a single game makes a pretty big deal when you've coached less than 20 or so.

I love threads like this because it enables you to distinguish the morons from the idiots really easily.

So you're saying the decline is finally real?

O is .760 vs all competition, but .000 vs Sun Belt teams.

Through 25 games at LSU:

Miles 21-4
Orgeron 19-6
Saban 18-7

Through 25 games at LSU he is 1 game better than Saban, who took over a program with a losing record in the previous 2 seasons, and two games worse than Miles.

Others of note.

Charlie Mac 19-5-1
Arnsparger 19-6
Dinardo 19-6
Mike Archer 18-6-1
Jerry Stoval 13-11-1
Gynell Tinsley 12-13
Paul Dietzel 10-13-2 (went 11-0 in his 4th season (first winning season) after 5-5 the previous)
Curley Hallman 8-17

But the Mac Daddy over 25 games? Bernie Moore 21-3-1 though he ended up at 0.648 over 128 games

Of the previous 11 coaches that had 25 games coached,

3 have a better record, 2 are identical, 2 have 1 less win, 1 is 5 wins back, 3 have losing records one of which won a national championship later.

Interesting info, but not much more than that. Talk to me in 2-3 years about O's overall record.

I think any average or above average coach could win at an established LSU program.

Texas, Nebraska, USC, FSU, Tenn, Florida and a host of others might disagree with you. You can't win without coaching, and you can't win big unless you have a big time coach.

The question as I see it is whether or not O can win big time. Right now he is on his way.

Saban was 24-12 after 3

ok, then that means O is on a very good trajectory.

Orgeron is clearly a better coach than Saban.

I get the sarcasm, but Saban is a much better coach now then when he was at LSU. We won a national championship but there were rough patches as well. He was good for a couple bad losses each year.

Meaning...what? O is on the same level as Saban and Miles? O is the second best coach all time, just ahead of Saban?
