Booty was already on campus when Saban was hired. Booty was a Curley recruit then Dinardo signee. Anyway, we will be fine this year, because the rest of our QBs have a want to be excellent players, leaders, etc.

Kudos to whatever channel, 5/9 or 705/709, showed the other two back up QBs throwing the ball into the ground as Miles said he has confidence in the two walkon QBs. (Classic)

Supa, why do you think the offense was so dysfunctional last season?

Seems like Crowton tries to fit square pegs in round holes. They recruited a ton of spread offense people, they were short handed on decent linemen, so they tried some sort of hybrid offense that was awful.

In August JJ couldnt grasp what was needed as a true spread QB, that he is apparently ill suited to run. Crowton didnt trust his OL and refused to change from the base spread so they "dumbed down" the entire playbook as a compromise once it was too late in the season to scrap what they had already put in.

ie, the awful option game and the dreaded sprint handoffs and bubble screens

Lee's confidence is shot, the coach's confidence in him as a leader is shot. He is an even worse fit as a spread QB, so putting him behind that OL as a pocket passer would have gotten him killed. So he wasn't a viable alternative because they coaches were afraid they would lose the team.

They rarely trust either QB to throw over the middle unless it is man coverage, so teams sat in zone and stuffed the run. When they blitzed JJ and gave him man he is pretty good if he gets rid of the ball.

So we had the perfect storm of suck

Wrong!
Miles got a 3 star local, bleeds purple and gold to walk on.

I think Les knew Lee was a potential long shot of being a Tiger. He gave it a shot good for him.

So, 1) knowing that the kid will be a 1st rounder, and 2) knowing that 1st rounders almost always leave, and 3) knowing by this point that Chris Garret is apparently not what you were looking for, and 5) knowing that your only two real quarterbacks (who have both struggled mightily) will be juniors this year, Les Miles signs only 1 quarterback?!?!?! The guy who is unlikely to ever play a down????? This for an offense that was 112 out of 117 last year.

Yea, thats what he did, he signed only 1 QB on purpose. Some of you people are so stupid.

well said. People who lash back are supposedly "posi-tigers". BS you sign 2 QB's. If RS is that man, then get him to the QB position and fast. Change you pitiful offense to fit his style of play - make him Pat White.

After having read all these posts, I would say this. I wish we had Zach Lee for the future. I wish that Miles had signed another great QB-in-waiting. I hope we don't have a QB meltdown or injury. I hope that Gonzales gets the best out of these boys, and I hope we put together an offensive scheme that proves productive.

To some degree I see Miles at fault, but the Dodgers and Lee came to an agreement that probably neither one thought the other would agree to. These signing terms mean to me that he would never have to work a day in his life from now on without really being very productive as a player. Not only hard to turn down, impossible to turn down.

As for Miles, I am a 70/30 supporter of Les Miles. That skews the next comment certainly; however, no matter what he does in the mind of some on this board it is wrong. To others he has no flaws. Neither is true. I can't wait to be in Atlanta and ACTUALLY watch and talk about football. All of this conjecture and recrimination wears on me after awhile. I see the future as a little bleaker than before, but certainly not hopeless. As for some on the rant, they look at a half full glass of wine and refuse to even see the glass. Life is not over; the season is not over. I am pulling for the Tigers to rise to the occasion and do well, but boys and girls, we are in tough conference. The best of talent at any SEC school is going to have a hard time running the table.

You want another topic? I really think that MLB and the NBA have ruined college baseball and basketball through across the board greed at every level.

The only problem is Russell doesnt want to play QB. He is committed to playing WR. The coaching staff didnt force him to play WR. He will strictly remain a wildcat only type of QB. Which means he wont be throwing it. It seems to me we will have bailey, gibson, rivers, and hopefully someone else at the the start of 2011 as our backups to Lee and JJ. There is no colossal fail.

It is mind-boggling that this guy has been fooling so many people. Just incredible. And with an astronomical salary!
Apparently he has not fooled the ratings people at Sports Illustrated. What is LSU's preseason ranking in the SI Top 25 again? Oh, LSU isn't ranked? I wonder why... hmmm.

Do you really lose sleep over our non-ranking by SI? Who cares? Do you think if LSU wins the first 5 games that we will not be ranked in the Top 10 going to play Florida in the Swamp?

Win and that takes are of itself. Pre-season rankings are absolutely the dumbest most ridiculous BS ever?

But please, keep going on like it matters? What a colossal waste of my time!

Oh, I don't know. It sure was nice when just 3 or so years ago, LSU came out ranked preseason in the top 3-5 practically every season since after 2003. And I believe nobody was complaining then. Or saying

Who cares?
And no, if we win the first five, I am not at all sure unranked LSU will be ranked in the SI top 10 when we go play Florida in the Swamp. Not without a lot of the ranked teams losing a lot of games.

No, this statement is just exhibit triple Z times a thousand for your stupidity. Saban didn't recruit Booty.

coaching wisdom recruiting 2 sport studs? You actually think Mac Brown did NOT recruit Lee?

I'm sure he did. And lots of coaches recruit 2 sport athletes. They just don't let the future of their programs depend on one of them turning down millions to play for them for free. In 2012, Mack Brown will have a better QB starting for him than LSU does.

Seriously, you are a complete dumbass....there will not be 10 teams undefeated on October 9th!

If LSU is 5-0 with wins over a ranked UNC and West Va team, along with being 3-0 in the SEC West, thet might be ranked in the TOP 5.

Do you remember that we were ranked #8 when we lost to Ole Miss last year with 2 losses?

Go away, please!

Please don't. It's painful enough just to read what you have already pointed out...because it's true. I really don't see how anybody could frick up the LSU football program more than Les Miles is, even if they were trying to.

The guy went to NSU, it isnt like he went to Oklahoma or something.

Stan Humphreys transferred out from behind Wickersham and went to a small LA school. He did well in the NFL for a few years - better than Wick did.

Point being that just because someone transfers to a small school doesn't mean they can't play.
