They weren’t “allowed” in. They qualified for their spots based on the rule all conferences agreed on for the format of the playoffs.

This, 100%.

The only team Tulane or JMU took a spot from was Duke. If people want to debate the merits of Alabama vs. Vanderbilt, that’s fine. But I’m not gonna lose sleep over JMU taking a spot from the ACC while the SEC has 5 of the 12 teams.

Not to mention both Ole Miss and AM were ranked higher than Bama. The system is flawed and the bias is real. Needs to be changed especially when your leaving out better teams for the likes of JMU and Tulane who no one believes have a chance especially since we've already seen Tulane go to Oxford already this season and got blown out and thats a repeat for round one of the playoffs?

I honestly felt they should have been in over Bama personally. Bama was 10-2 entering into that game while AM was 11-1 only loss being an away game to their rival Texas. Bama lost to FSU and Oklahoma at home.
Are you talking about the SECCG? What does a loss to FSU have to do with the SECCG?

the system is flawed tremendously by trying to apply "the eye test", the "most worthy test" and the "most deserving test" to the big players, while also having DEI conferences getting a pass. the committee is a joke, the CFP is a joke because they tell you they're going to put who they want in, when they want them in. $$$ is the reason, not bama being the regular season default champs.

They keep making rules to be “fair” then change the philosophy after they realize it’s clearly dumb. The two G6 teams will get embarrassed then that will change too. The need an RPI type system to reward teams playing tough schedules.

Even tho it really wasn’t their fault, A&M hasn’t faced a single playoff team this year despite the conference sending the most teams to the playoffs. You could basically argue they are in the same situation as BYU who HAD to win to get in.

Exactly and they have trouble against a all out blitz. We showed that when we played them and UGA exploited it.

I said this exact same thing when they played OU that Blake exposed Bama and OU followed up with his game plan

I mean, why not? If you don’t get in the playoffs, everyone gets a participation trophy if you accept a bowl invitation (sorry, ND).

That’s the age we live in,

So those 2 teams played BY THE RULES, and got in by PLAYING BY THE RULES, and here you are calling them DEI teams. Man, you people need to get a grip.

rules that are made to allow others the less fortunate in, and we need to get a grip? i'm pulling for Tulane now, but they were ranked 25th. this isn't getting the best 12 teams in for a great playoff, its allowing participation trophies.

Nothing other than the SOS part of the equation. Still their common opponents were Mizz and us which AM won both big and on the road while Bama won I think by 3 on the road to Mizz and beat us by 11 in a home game where AM beat us by 25 in Tiger Stadium. So like I said not that it even matters but I felt AM should have been in as the higher ranked team, 1 loss, and better common opponent wins since there was no head to head to go off of.

They were the #1 SEC regular season team. Which is why they made it to the SEC Championship.

If you punish Alabama for playing then you have to drop OU/Ole Miss and TAMU for not playing considering Alabama was ranked higher than those teams on Saturday.

I disagree with the sentiment that a team shouldn't be penalized for losing the SEC championship game - especially if they are not even competitive In the game. If Alabama would have won the game, they sure would have been using that win as rationale for being in the playoffs.

so it's win = playoff bid and lose = playoff bid with the current logic

Tulane & JMU

The entire reason for increasing the playoffs to 12 was so that we can give every conference champion a chance, so I'm fine with it.

LSU in Texas Bowl is about as boring as the Western Kentucky game. While I will watch, I’m not about to go to Houston for New Years weekend. If it were a better destination then maybe. But New Year’s in Houston sounds about as exciting as Shreveport.
All the "Superior Fans" in the Pumptard Nation are all giddy with excitement about the Texas Bowl.

BTW, Houston is the 4th largest City in the USA. If you can't find something to do there, I don't know what to tell you.

There are literally thousands of places to buy Alcohol too, which I'm sure is the main concern for many of you alcoholics on here.

Bama was the best SEC team in the regular season

Unless you include the month of November.

They're more deserving than every other SEC team not named UGA.

They had two losses. They may have had the best win but they also had the absolute worst loss as well.

quote:

If you want them out, then OU, Ole Miss or Texas A&M needs to be out as well.

Ole Miss and A&M had 1 loss regular seasons, and OU beat Bama and finished with the same regular season record. None of them currently have three losses, like Bama does.
