Would love to see Fontenot in the rotation.

None of what you said disputes anything I said. It only lets people knw you lack reading comprehension skills.
And have a shitty avatar.

The shame is, it shoudn't be interesting.
I knew Morgan wasn't going to play and I wasn't sure why.. which is exactly what I stated. I then googled a bit and saw he had been released from Harwich.
So out of the blue, I post a little bit of info and out myself as not having ALL the info because I didn't know for sure why.
Then PP comes in as if he's in the know and the kid just needed to be activated.
He didn't have to do that. Arrogance and idiocy? I assuming the P stands for projection.

If it's Washburn, Heid, and Shaffer, that's really fricking exciting.
Project, what is the story on Washburn? Meaning, can you give more analysis and context on him?
I looked him up over the weekend when I read in another thread that he was a possibility to transfer here and his numbers at OSU seem a bit underwhelming (low innings, +3 ERA, +1.1 WHIP). All I could find on his pitching arsenal was his recruiting profile, which showed he is possibly a 3-4 pitch mix guy, which is good, but looked like FB topped out at 90 mph, although I'm assuming that has bumped up some in college as he has gotten stronger, but that is just an assumption. Any insight is appreciated.

He's one of our better pitchers (so him throwing more innings is better than him throwing fewer).
He's proven more effective in longer outings fewer times per week.
He's got to have some incentive to come back from a personal development standpoint.
I think it's a good move to give him a shot there.
I've been waiting for him to start ever since he set foot on campus. Mainieri indicated before his freshman season that he thought Devin could eventually start. I noticed the same thing you have about him being better in longer outings.
But it seemed like after Mainieri tried to start him that one time (not counting the times he's opened midweek games as part of a bullpen game) against Oregon State in the regional in '18, and it didn't go so well, he just gave up on that idea. Nevermind that he was a freshman going up against the best team in the country that year, and that everyone has a bad game sometimes. I thought after Fontenot's performance against FSU in the Supers the next year, that surely he had earned at least a chance to start coming into his junior year. Still didn't happen.
He's a good reliever, but he's one of those guys who needs to get into the flow of the game before he settles in. That's not what you want for a closer, and perhaps Jay has sold Devin on the idea of upping his stock as a starter, and maybe getting more innings would also help him develop better command (another reason why I wanted to see him start years ago).

Fontenot will get a look at being a starter.
Project or Ell, what are the thoughts here (Project, I saw that you gave some already)?
I really like Fontenot and I agree he has looked good in some extended outings; but to me he still seems like more of a closer. He reminds me a bit of Hess, not in his pitching style or ability, but more just his demeanor and personality on the mound. I know a lot people felt Hess would never make as good of a starter as a closer because he couldn't approach it with the same mindset of just coming in off adrenaline and pounding the zone as hard as he could with max effort on everything like he seemed to prefer to do.
Fontenot to me has a lot of that in him. He feeds off the big moments and adrenaline and just wants to give max effort every time on the mound, which doesn't seem to be the best approach for a starter. But I very much could be wrong and just misreading, which is why I'd like other's input.

He's a guy we're pursuing out of Oregon State. I believe he's currently pitching for Team USA. So he's highly thought of even if the stats don't show it. 1.1 WHIP is really good though. For college, average is somewhere around 1.4.
ETA: The biggest number that stands out is the over 9 K/9. If you can average more than a strike out per inning, there is something there. He looks like he's been more of a multi inning reliever than a starter. Absent a true ace, those guys become extremely valuable.
On 7/3 he threw 3 innings in the USA CNT game. Gave up 1 hit, 2 walks, 2 K, no runs.

No, dumbass. You were told he wasn't taken off a roster he was never on. He was never deactivated because he was never activated.
You have a horrible combination of arrogance and idiocy.
Actually I said: "Morgan off the roster in Harwich. Not sure why just yet."
Then you said: ProjectP2294 "He hasn’t been activated yet. Hard to be off a roster when you haven’t yet been on it."
As if you had any fricking clue what was going on with Morgan and they just needed to put his name on the list.
You didn't have any clue and tried to make me look like a dumbass. Just take the L and learn that google searches don't always give you all you can know about what's up with certain players.
Dude…you bolder the wrong part. Your reading comprehension skills are lacking significantly.

While this makes sense, the eye test tells me he won't be successful as a starter.

Not sure what yall see that leads yall to think he cant/wont succeed as a starter

So help me out. From what was Morgan released?
Go look up my post. I linked the article in it.

I already admitted that I simply have a bad taste in my mouth because of our history trying to turn closers into starters.

I’m late to the party but

Hilliard will be back. Fontenot will be back unless something changes with the draft. Same with Dugas.

Wouldn't you say Fontenot may be a little different though? He's had a ton of outings over his career where he threw a lot of pitches. Hell, he threw almost 100 pitches against FSU in the super regionals in 2019 and only gave up 2 hits. I just think he'd be in a little different situation than Ott and Hess when they transitioned to being a starter
Posted on 7/6/21 at 10:56 am to lsufball19
The situations are very different. Fontenot does have some experience going over 50 pitches already. He's much older than Ott and Hess were when we made the attempt to move them. But unfortunately, like them, he's a two-pitch, high effort guy who may not have a ton of success going 3 times through a lineup.
