Since when has ESPN become a whistle blower for the NCAA?

A defamation lawsuit wouldn't be applicable.

LSU is a public institution. You can say pretty much anything you want about it. Beyond that, LSU would never be able to prove that ESPN had malicious intent to harm LSU by spreading false information. It's only ESPN's opinion that the tapes are worthless.

I think Herb Vincent is doing his job as the chief communications officer at LSU. He's got the experience and the years behind the job to call out ESPN if he thinks they did LSU wrong. He's no 22 year old intern tweeting the first thing that pops in his head. If there's one person you can trust at LSU to do the job right, it's Herb.

OK maybe not in general, but do you think there would be anything in the agreements we have with ESPN that would hold water?

LSU will NOT get penalized because the "quality" of the videos was poor....

That sort of thinking is just idiotic at best!

You are missing the point. Defamation requires that something false was published.

Judgement about video quality is an opinion, and it cannot be false.

Thus, there is no case.

And that isn't even getting into the public institution stuff, which the above poster already mentioned.

So now ESPN.com is evaluating the quality of the videos purchased by LSU. Wow. They need to report the news, not make the news.

ESPN HATES LSU!!

Can't believe it took three pages for someone to point that out.

ell 'em herbie. why don't they hire some recruiting experts to appraise the value of the material lsu recieved so they can argue that we overpaid for it, that's what they are insinuating.

What they are insinuating is that we gave Lyles $6000 to bring Seastrunk and his mother on an unofficial visit to LSU and he gave us some worthless DVDs to cover the tracks.

Way to go Herb

...not to mention, of course some of the video quality is going to be low, we're talking about some low budget high schools. And there were 32 freaking DVDs, but no mention of how much of the footage out of the 32 DVDs was low quality. This is one of the most sensational articles I've seen ESPN put out there.

I hear they are coming out with their own frozen food line too. Guess they are trying to diversify.

Stop saying this shite in every thread. Lache was in an Oregon uniform when we paid Lyles. It had nothing to do with him.
