Threw a pitching tryout for Artigues when he was at BPCC. He is a baseball junkie. Damn good coach.

What if its Brooks as AD (UGA SEC experience) who has done it at a big time Football school working with Kirby and Artigues comes in as Assistant and focuses on the Baseball, which is something Jay Johnson would like.

If the President is the Rousse from McNeese, then that suggest Will Wade might be the Men's BB coach in 2026. Now if Brooks is the AD, and he takes the job say in early December then that could put a big name coach back in play, might be a different type of deal. More annual salary, incentive targets for bonus, but shorter term contract, etc.

They’ll hire whoever Landry directs them to hire.

I said the 2026 season, u don't think he would come back to LSU. Rousse was in the McNeese Administration when they hired him as Executive VP then President.

Some folks I know in the Hammond who followed HS ball in Hammond and rest of Tangi, etc, said Brooks and Pete Golding played little league sports, HS football, maybe HS baseball together as well.

Of course Golding is Lane's DC at Ole Miss. People are going to probably down vote this but Hanny and Ott the other day clearly said that Lane was professionally and personally pissed off that Woodward would not even give him the courtesy of an interview (That was either yesterday or Tuesday's show).

Who knows, maybe Lane via Sexton told LSU reps that there is no way he would work for Woodard. In a round about way, maybe firing Woodward gives LSU a better chance with Lane, if, and that is a big if he wants to leave Ole Miss [Saban saying he has a good thing going though kind of makes everyone wonder if Lane would leave Ole Miss].

Of course all this sounds like a long shot but you never know how Woodward not even giving Lane the courtesy of an interview impacted his view of working for Woody at LSU, if Lane is in fact interested.

Why would a competent AD want to come here and deal with all the Louisiana political frickery?

I'm always surprised when LA folks think we have the shittiest shite show. Newsflash, governors and big boosters meddle everywhere. There are plenty of competent ADs who consider the LSU job a dream job. We'll be fine.

And as for Saban saying Lane probably won't find it better elsewhere, he's old and senile and now paid to talk. The irony is that he regretted leaving LSU, which proves yes that the grass ain't always greener, but it also proves that he knew LSU was a special place.

Tate had never been a president at any level. LSU hadn’t hired a guy like Tate(with no presidential experience) since the 1980s. At least the McNeese guy has some experience. He supposedly is a big supporter of athletics. That’s what Hanagriff said anyway.
