Miles philosophy to play great defense and so-so offense w a below-average QB to win championships is a thing of the past.

I can't believe there are people out there that think Miles' philosophy is to have shitty QB play.

You do know that there's a very strong correlation between TOP and sustained drives, number of plays, etc. right? We didn't have a top 25 TOP because we went 3 and out on every drive bud

As an average across all football team, yes. Not with LSU. Our plays eat up more game time than the average because we run it a ton and use up damn near the entire clock before running the next play. Also we have a great defense that stops the other team more often than not and gives us the ball right back. If LSU and an opponent went 3 and out for an entire game, LSU would win the TOP for the game.

And TOP does not give the defense long rests in between drives, which is what you claimed.

What happened to winning as a team and losing as a team...There are some valid points in this thread from both sides, but this should be something fans talk about, not coaches on the staff paid top money in their craft to just do their job.

For the most part, CLM has handled the personnel turnover on his staff with class over the years. He's made sure not to assault the character of departing coaches even when they've deserved it. It just seems real unprofessional and petty for Chavis to take this posture win his former employer that paid him well.

How did you feel in the 4th quarter down 7 to 3 with the offense going 3 and out on every drive in the 3rd, and then they start the 4th by throwing their 2nd interception of the half?

That I wish Delahoussaye could make a 28 yard FG and Fournette didn't fumble. Also, that we should stop throwing the ball.

Then after we take the lead, the defense forces Ole Miss into a punt, and the offense goes 16 yards in the wrong direction and punts after running 25 seconds off the clock.

That stupid penalties are stupid penalties.

How did all of that feel? But I guess if Ole Miss managed to tie the game up with a field goal it would have been Chavis getting thrown under the bus, amiright?

Damn straight.

Yes.

They were on the field more than only around 8 out of 120 teams in the country.

But not the Ole Miss or Bama game
It was a really conservative offense that threw those 3 interceptions against Ole Miss. In hind sight LSU should have used the type of conservative offense that was the OP's complaint, and the supposed reason Chavis left. And LSU's defense didn't stop Alabama at all in the second half. It wasn't a tired defense. It was a defense that couldn't cope with Alabama's offense. Alabama's OC made better adjustments at half than Chavis.

Our offensive TOP average keep his defense fresh.

...and his defense shite the bed in 2013 with one of our best offenses of all time.

Another poster that doesnt understand football. Chavis is a good dc but his defense benefited greatly from our style of offense.

Not in 2012.......... You have your games mixed up.

So again you won't blame Miles for anything. Look I don't care if Chavis is here or not Miles is an awful offensive mind...

Because that is how all great offenses are measured, by time of possession. Points scored is such a meaningless stat, amiright?

Wow. Its hard for a defense to give up yards and points,WHEN ITS NOT ON THE FIELD.

You do know that time of possession is the game clock, not real time right? A 3 and out takes up the same amount of real time whether it is 3 passes or 3 runs.

Wrong.

Style of offense???? They had trouble scoring in a whorehouse.. LSU 's offense sucked last year... Miles is a wanna be big ten coach and it will always be that way.... Say what you want about TOP... NOT scoring more hurt LSU'S D a lot more than you will ever admit, cause you have Miles up your arse too much.. And I like how you [I am sure] RAVED about Chavis while he was here and now bash him since he is gone. Talk about a chickenshit fan..........
