We stopped their offense better than anyone else in college football, pretty much from their first SEC game. Who should we give credit to for that?

Well considering aTm hasn't had any semblance of a rushing attack from their first SEC game, and they haven't averaged more than 6.0 yards per pass attempt in any game against us, how about.... Corey Raymond?

Most of the time the other team has a much better offense than defense, yet usually LSU fails to put points on the board.

For the purpose of this dialogue, I don't give two fricks about points.

The offensive philosophy at LSU is:
1) Score Points
2) Shorten the Game
3) Keep the LSU Defense off the Field

The offensive philosophy at aTm is:
1) Score Points
2) Score Points Quickly
3) Score Points by Passing

Which do you think is the more friendly to a defense?

Chavis was a sacred cow immune to criticism because of that offense that "added too much pressure". The philosophy of the offense was one that gave the defense the best opportunity to be successful-shrink the clock no short fields for the other team. If that was too much for him then I agree with Alleva. He doesn't recruit and then wants to be paid more but admits to wanting to be less successful.

Go back and look at the last 5 tenn defenses. Lsu made chavis not the other way around. So long chief.

The one that is most concerned with scoring points. And LSU's philosophy appears to be 2,3, (some other stuff), then 1 by your list.

Show me an OC at any level of football whose goal isn't to score a touchdown on every drive.

What was his excuse last year when the offense was rolling and his defense was consistently costing us games?

Les Miles on the first drive of nearly every game. You can't tell me that his priority early isn't to "beat up" the other team's defensive line.

Les Miles offensive priorities:
1) Don't turn the ball over
2) Run into the defense's line as often as possible early in the game.
3) Don't turn the ball over.
4) Use up the clock.
5) Score points.

IMO, I am not even sure that Miles wants to run the clock so much as it is more of a byproduct of the first 2.

which is not mutually exclusive to scoring points. The only TD drive we had against Ole Miss featured 14 straight rushes.

Well you need to say it cause if Miles doesn't screw with shite in BOTH games[Ole miss and Bama] LSU wins those games..... You have your head way to far up Miles arse........ I don't blame Chavis for leaving. The offensive way Miles does offense is horrible and YES he leaves the D to clean up his offenses mess... I don't care about the TOP crap.. That just shows that Miles CAN'T get the offense to finish the job............

The Ole Miss game is a perfect example of where the offense blew chunks and the defense single handedly won the game. 10-7. LSU chocked the entire 3rd quarter.

This is a great point. The time on the field and the high scoring games will jack his def numbers way up. It will be an improvement for A/M but still equals 8-5 best case for them.

Chavis surrendered a game-winning drive to Ole Miss after the offense scored on 4 of their last 5 possessions.

Chavis allowed Alabama to score touchdowns on all 3, as in every one, of their second half possessions before they bled the clock to 00:00 on the final drive.

So who can't finish the job?

A missed FG and a Fournette fumble on the goal line.

How would you feel about 20-7?

How did you feel in the 4th quarter down 7 to 3 with the offense going 3 and out on every drive in the 3rd, and then they start the 4th by throwing their 2nd interception of the half?

Then after we take the lead, the defense forces Ole Miss into a punt, and the offense goes 16 yards in the wrong direction and punts after running 25 seconds off the clock.

How did all of that feel? But I guess if Ole Miss managed to tie the game up with a field goal it would have been Chavis getting thrown under the bus, amiright?

I'll give ya the UGA game. But not the Ole Miss or Bama game.. Chavis kept Bama in check and the LSU offense let more than a couple chances choke away. And the Ole Miss game was ALL on the LSU offense.......

retarded analysis.

2013 lsu defense

437 yards 21 pts Auburn
494 yards 44 pts UGA
468 yards 26 pts MSU
525 yards 27 pts Ole Miss
372 yards 38 pts Bama
360 yards 27 pts Arky

Add that to the games against TAMU and UF, and we gave up on average 399 yards and 26 pts in SEC play. It also helps your team defensive ranking when you schedule 4 nobodies for OOC.
