Last season LSU had 7 games decided by 10 points or less
Last season Texas A&M had 6 games decided by 10 points or less
Let's put this bullshite to bed. A&M scored fewer points than us against Bama, and similar numbers against mississippi state (the score was 17-48 until they piled on a few points at the end) and ole miss (the score was 35-14 until a last second worthless TD) , and they only scored 21 against the mighty ULM warhawks. A&M performed better than us against auburn and arkansas, but I think everyone can agree that they were both vastly different teams at the time we played them (auburn regressed throughout the season and arkansas progressed).
Chavis is more than likely going to feel more pressure without our offense having a great TOP and giving his defense long rests between series. And even if that's not the case, the guy gets paid 1.5 million dollars a year to coach a game, it's his job to win the close ones and he shouldn't be complaining about that. I'm sure every defensive coordinator would like to be in a situation where the offense puts up 500 PPG but not wanting to feel pressure or do your job is called laziness in most professions, just throwing that out there

And the Ole Miss game was ALL on the LSU offense.......
Yeah, let's ignore the 13-play drive that Ole Miss used to decimate the clock and to regain the lead after LSU had pulled even.

Ok lets ignore that the LSU offense was horrible in the 1st half against a shorthanded defense...

well that turnover wouldn't happen if chavis wasn't a lazy shite head when it comes to recruiting.

Where did I suggest the offense didn't have a hand in that loss? Of the two of us, you're the only one that deals in absolutes.

Yea nothing like having a lead to save. You would much rather be losing.
Wait. where am i?

Numerous leads against Bama in the last few minutes of the game and his defense could not get a stop. You tell me? Equal failure

The Chief's defense was under tremendous pressure each and every game in the SEC.
If that was the real reason he left then ok, leave in a dignified manner. Bow out and quit.
Just dont pull the sly douchebag bull crap he pulled. Please, if he didnt want to be at LSU he should have just left. What a slimy move by Chavis.

Ironically, when we shut down the offense, and ramped up our Time of possession the defense did better.
If you think a demand for top notch defense is a reason for DC to jump ship then what the hell are we paying a DC for? We demand excellence. If A&M want half arse for $1.8million then let them pay for mediocrity.
And remember, this BS mickey mouse offense get shut down. They don't just lose games because of their defense they got shot out against Bama.

Weren't we Top 10 in the nation in TOP?

It is stupid to even discuss because Chavis left because of money - that is guaranteed money. He was getting paid to be a defense of Cordinator which will always be the foundation of LSU football. The argument he is making will be no different with the Aggies because their offense will put him in bad situations as well. Good riddance!

We had TOP edge when we had sustained drives, not when we consistently went 3 and out. Take a close look at the Bama game last year, there weren't that many times when we went 3 and out. We just couldn't score.

In 2014, the LSU defense faced an average of 66.1 plays per game.
In 2014, the aTm defense faced an average of 78.9 plays per game.
It's not just TOP that matters, it's extended drives, burning clock, and keeping the defense off the field as much as possible.
In our game against them this year, LSU had 5 drives where they ran at least 8 plays and burned over 4:00 of clock. aTm had 1 such drive. In their other 8, averaged about 4 plays and 2:00 of clock.
Sumlin's offense is certainly not going to be kind to Chavis.

Just freaking coach the D. All this crying about pressure. He was the top paid assistant. If you don't like it get a head coaching gig.

Sure hope Chavis leaving wakes up Miles and staff on the offensive side of the football.

I wonder what the record is for number of downvotes on a single post.
Because you've got a legitimate shot at it, dude.

You can't compare what another team does against our defense to what we do against their defense. Most of the time the other team has a much better offense than defense, yet usually LSU fails to put points on the board.

If you hate to beat a dead horse, why do it? You can talk about no offense all you want, but he choked away plenty of games at the end. He started welter continuously , he showed very little pass rush and he quit on his defense before the bowl game. I could care less about him and wish everything about him would go away
