Has any coach in the history of sports ever driven a team down faster than Orgeron did?

39 scholarship players left for a bowl game just two years removed from the GOAT team in college football history.
11-11 over two seasons which is basically a miracle and a testimony to the pride that guys who wear LSU on their helmet have.
But, 39 scholarship players for a bowl game? Have NCAA sanctions ever done that much damage to a program sans SMU back in the 80s with the death penalty?
The culture was completely broken and toxic. What a disaster. This actually ended way worse than I thought it would back when Orgeron was hired. And, it just shows how special Joe Burrow, Chase, Jets, and those guys were back in 2018-19.

Hard for me to comprehend that LSU can't find 85 that would die to play football at LSU and wear the uniform
In essence, LSU has put itself on probation and it won't be fixed in one year until the numbers climb back up.
It's a miracle they stayed within a TD of Bama and actually beat A&M and Fla

Yeah frick that piece of shite for the way he left this program. Seeing the roster for the bowl game is a complete disaster. Orgeron is a grade A piece of shite. Glad he is gone.

Dude, the 40 scholarship players is just for the bowl. That’s guys that left for the portal (Johnson, Ricks) plus opt outs going pro injuries covid etc. We will sign 25 (or close to it) plus some transfers from the portal. We may not have a full 85 (that’s not unusual either) but we will have a lot more than 40 come August.

Coach O just simply hired the wrong assistants over the years... O was responsible for the collapse, but some of the blame has to be placed on the assistant coaches! As Bear Bryant said, a head coach is only as good (or bad) as his assistants!
