re: Harris vs Eastern Michigan (every throw)

That was real hard to watch to be honest. The passing game is my favorite part of the offense and it just looked very bad. The good part is most of it is fixable. I saw 4 drops and I am not going to call names. Fournette was wide open on one of the endzone incompletions to Dupre. On one of the deep route interference calls the secondary wide receiver was wide open for a 15 yard gain. Still the same gripes about the short/intermediate passing game, even though this game was taylor made for the deep ball because of the way EMU was crowding the line.

I really hope Grimes gave Hawkins a serious arse chewing after this effort. That's pretty atrocious.

One thing that I have noticed (I don't claim to be an expert) is that the receivers are not attacking the ball. It seems like they just let it come to them instead of them going get it. For example, on one of the fade routes, Dupre tries to catch the ball falling toward the back pylon instead of trying to go up and use his height as an advantage.
I guess long story short, I would like to see the receivers more aggressive to the ball.

The one thing i notice...on plays where its not a for sure passing situation....WR are wide open...when they know we are going to throw is when they drop back everybody...solution...LF out the backfield or TE against LBs

one thing that I noticed from that video is that Harris is late on a lot of his throws
I don't know if this is just because we used a lot of play action or not
but even on the first play of the game (and I know it was a completion), if Harris throws it as soon as he gets his head around, he could have hit Dupre sooner and Dupre would have had more room to run
just little things like that are things that Harris will hopefully learn and improve on as the season progresses

Is he late or just slow with the progression to get to the receiver he chooses to throw to?

well that would mean he is late, no?

This! Overlooked several open eligible receivers in the intermediate game. Maybe he just like to throw bombs? I've always blamed the coaches, but now I'm starting to think it's on BH.

Harris needs to look for the underneath receiver. they are most of the time sitting there wide open, and seldom get a look. LF had a TD on one had Harris noticed him Saturday.

I'm mostly disappointed in Dural. No idea what's wrong with him. I think the ball hit him in both hands a few time where he missed. I believe the long ball in the endzone (DPI) also hit him in the hands.

Harris threw the ball very well
I watched the video. Thats a reach
There were multiple under thrown balls in that clip. Receivers didn't help the cause, but that was far from a perfect game by Harris.

Look at how wide open LF7 was at the 3:21 mark - and Harris didn't even look at him. Geez.

Watching that video, holy shite what awful technique our receivers have; quitting on balls, alligator-arming it, not focused. I get they're young, but damn, someone needs to step up into a leadership role and right the ship. If this shits continues this game, les needs to change the whole unit out.
Dural shouldn't be the one leading the charge with these drops and mental errors.

No
He had about 6 bad throws
Screen play was bad, he had Diarse for 6 and severely under threw the ball. The sideline throw to Dupre was pretty bad and Dural didn't have a chance on one of the deep balls
That being said this isn't all on him, I'd say 3-4 should have been caught that were incomplete

Quite honestly, after reviewing that video, it's pretty clear to me that while Harris did throw some bad throws, under throws, and just never seemed to find a rhythm, the receivers were dropping and missing them right and left it seemed. This tends to lead me to believe that this stems from just a lack of repetition because of our heavy focus on the running game. Les has just got to get this kid some reps if we're ever to get this thing going in the passing game. Some high percentage completions will go a long way in getting his feet under him and the receivers as well. There were more than a few there where there were open receivers underneath that he could have hit but went deep instead. Now, whether that's by design or not, which I'd say it probably was, I don't know for certain, but it's where I think they really need to focus on to get the rhythm going.
Just my .02 cents.

Dude I would have watched if it was like 2 minutes. that was terrible.
Posted on 10/7/15 at 9:49 am to TheDeathValley
Pause the video at 1:34 and look at the decision...I like the kid, but he had 2 WIDE OPEN receivers and he threw to a guy who, at the time, was triple covered. Against top competition, the safety picks that ball.

I don't think LF will every be that wide open in space ever again. How does a defense lose track of our best player like that and we not even look at him.

Exactly. All I can do is shake my head.
