Once again, why would Pyburn give up NFL aspirations to be a back up at LSU? He would be better off staying in the NFL or going to a team in which hes a guaranteed starter to help him get back to the NFL.

If he is getting cut he has the choice of practice squad money or he can come back to a dc he knows and be part of a rotation which might actually make him better since he won’t be worn down, or he could go elsewhere and get starter money.

If he get's cut, he would make more money at LSU than a practice squad somewhere.

Plus being a rotational guy might make him better. He was really good at getting in the backfield last year but failed to make the play.

It' snot like he can walk away from Tampa and come to LSU. He would have to be released and then clear waivers and then he can return to LSU and give the NFL another shot next year.
Coming back to college doesn't give up NFL aspirations, it defers them once the NFL tells you that they don't want you (right now).
So, he can sit out, not make money, train his arse off and hope he gets a call from someone who wants to bring him in for a workout OR make money, go back to college, train, put out more tape, get access to trainers, medical staff, health insurance, coaching, feedback, etc.
It's an absolute no brainer for someone who gets released, not claimed and still has NFL aspirations.

His NIL money here would be greater than his NFL practice squad $.
He was right there all year on having a lot of sacks. Things could be much different this year with more talent along the DL, which could translate to a very productive year and more exposure for next year's draft.

Yep, he wanted to not be in a rotation and it didn’t work well. Come back get all the benefits of being at LSU and try again next year.

Moreover, my understanding is that a team who drafts or signs a player retains rights for the following year.
Pyburn making a roster or even a practice squad isn’t guaranteed. And even if he’s a backup, he will still get significant playing time and can be developed as a player.

I doubt he could re enter the draft. I wonder how the NFL will rule on players coming back. I’m guessing he would just have to sign a FA deal

Can he even get drafted next year since he signed an UDFA contract this year? If he gets cut this week and clears waivers to return to college football, he would still be a FA come January.

If Tampa Bay cuts him and he clears waivers, they don’t retain rights. He can choose to sign with a practice squad if given opportunity or go back to college.

Yep. he can reenter the draft, It's like is never happened.
Sorry, I missed the part at the end about rejoining a team. The answer to that is NO. Take Dae'Quan Wright for example. Once he signs with LSU, enrolls, etc. he has to go through the entire draft process ahain next year. he can't just rejoin the Browns (or another NFL team) in January / February.

I hope we get neither of them. Completely against the spirit of college athletics and against the NCAA rule which was also upheld last week in a US Court of Appeals. This is being circumvented by a hometown judge’s TRO.
I feel this way bc A - it’s just not right. There’s professionalism and amateurism. You get a training camp deal and you’ve become a pro. We shouldn’t be increasing ambiguity. B - I’d rather ride with our guys and give our opponents no excuses. I also can’t rule out the SEC office coming down on us for taking pro players against the NCAA rule.

I agree. Better interior push, plus better rush from Princewill, could result in more sacks as a team, and more for Jack. Many of Pyburn’s near miss sacks were because the QB stepped up into the pocket as he went by. Interior pressure, plus opposite side pressure will create good times.

There has always been money in collegiate sports. It’s just out in the open now. Even though we knew it was happening it’s still fell under the umbrella of amateurism.
