Put another way - LSU has 4 players starting on Defense that had starter experience from last year. Thats 11-14 players in your rotation that are lacking - let that sink in for a second.

As horrendous as tackling is, why isn’t Kelly having more live scrimmages on Tuesday where tackling could improve?

Lane Kiffin ran plays side to side at a fast pace on offense to tire the defense and expose LSU’s poor tackling.

same shite CUm and malzahn did up tempo to win games then gouge you north south because you cannot substitute. up tempo.

I cannot stand when coaches or fans use the "young" excuse. You are typically going to have a similar mix of players every season at this level. And so are most other teams.

People need to stop reading so much into press conferences. BK isn’t going to go up there and call people out by name in front of the media. He’s been coaching for decades, and he knows what the problems are. Whether or not he can fix them (probably not until after the season) is the question.

Because one of the hardest tasks for any football program is keeping guys healthy week to week. You start having more live scrimmages during the season, you’re going to see the injuries pile up.

I know that’s true, but it’s pick your poison, this is not sustainable and it’s embarrassing.

I’m not sure Kelly was deliberately throwing players under the bus when he said no one else is walking through the door,

He was asked last week (maybe moscona) if there was anyone that we haven't seen yet that might be able to help out in the secondary. He said then that there wasn't. I'm guessing the comment Saturday night was in part due to that question.

This stiff is getting ridiculous. Kelly did NOT say there was a lack of talent in the secondary. He said there is a lack of experience. Remove Greg Brooks and you have one starter returning. 4 returning on defense in total. In fact, he said the opposite, these are the guys we chose, and we have to coach them better.

Kelly's going to have to learn you can't fudge facts, blow everyone off, and make idiotic statements like it's the secondary's fault. If it's all the secondary why are they resurrecting 80 yr old Pete Jenkins to come in to fix the D-Line?

Kelly implied it, plus a transfer who has experienced playing time which a majority of the transfers have, have experience. They just don’t have the talent but as Hanny noted Kelly is not going to actually say that on air.

They’ve been poorly coached and would’ve only been mediocre with good coaching.

He said the secondary was a red flag at SEC media days due to all the transfers.

The secondary last year was "all transfers" too. Brooks, Bernard-Converse, Garner, Foucha. And you could argue they were in worse position than last year because LSU had virtually no CBs on the roster other than a true freshman in Welch. Yet, they found a way to be serviceable most of the year. Not great. But at least serviceable.

A serviceable defense would have LSU at 4-1 right now with 4 double-digit wins due to just how good the offense has been. So to say "Kelly knew the secondary might struggle" and we should just say "oh well, that's how it goes sometimes" is a F-ing joke. This staff is completely wasting what will likely be the second best offense in school history.

It seems to be becoming more and more clear the SEC coaches have figured out House's scheme/approach. Take out games vs. overmatched opponents such as UAB, Purdue's second team, and Grambling, and this what House's defense has done in the last 5 games

38 points vs A&M that struggled to score even 20 points against virtually everyone they played.

43 vs Georgia. (take away the blocked FG return)

45 vs. Florida St.

31 vs. Arkansas (only because LSU was able to bleed the final 5:00 off the clock without Arkansas touching the ball)

55 vs. Ole Miss

It's crazy that we have more running backs than corner backs. I don't care what ranking you have in recruiting if you refuse to fill in gaps, then you aren't a good recruiter. We should have processed 2 or 3 running backs and gotten anyone breathing for corner back that was available.

But even worse a deficiency is a deficiency in coaching. I don't think Brian Kelly is even trying at this point. He's distracted by either his health or his life, but he hasn't been doing the hard work he's being paid for. His surprise and ignorance at why certain players aren't playing then magically they show up for one game then go away again is telling. That's not even touching his horrible in game decisions. What the hell were they doing all Spring and Summer?!?

The defense has one real playmaker in Perkins, but that is about it. WTF?
