Miami (OH) was just one of those things that happens. LSU outgained them almost 3:1, but kept turning the ball over. There was no physical domination like what occurred the other night.

By the way, that Miami team won their conference championship.

Not even close. LSU was coming off a 3-8 season, and Josh Booty single-handedly cost LSU the game with a selfish decision.

LSU was 12th in the nation when it lost to unheralded Miami (Ohio) in 1986.

LSU 0
ALA 21
JANUARY 09, 2012

Hmmm, context...

you're comparing playing for (and yes, losing) a national championship, with being skulldrug by a Miss State team coming off a 7 loss season.

I'd take losing 98-0 in the title game, over being blown out by an also-ran. Sure, it stings like hell to not win it all, but at least you're in position to.

You aren't that old, then. I've witnessed worse in the 90's.

Lmao if you believe LSU is loaded down with talent. We do have talent but it's extremly young and spotty. My god our fans are clueless.

I know I know it's O's fault because he's been recruiting here for 2 whole years. If you look at the players that are actually performing or that have hope of being any good what so ever, was all recruited here since he's been here. Give the guy a chance to bring in and stack up some talent. Yes we will need to win some games for that to happen but it was one loss, a terrible one, but one loss.

Things snow balled. If it happens again then it's time to worry. Maybe LSU should go back to just running the football to control the clock similar to what we ran at the end of last year to compete with what we have, and not lose like we just did until we get some depth across the board. The bottom line in that our OL and DL need to play better.

It was a horrible loss without question, but the 1994 Auburn game laughs at LSU-Miss St 2017.

It wasn't the worst LSU loss during the past 20 seasons but it certainly was a surprise getting manhandled by MSU.

Unless adjustments are made, I don't see LSU beating Florida, Alabama, or Tennessee on the road. This season could be a come to Jesus moment if this team doesn't fix the offensive and defensive lines. I don't know if that fix is possible this season but someone dropped the ball. Its common sense that everything good in football happens in the trenches.

Those are all bad losses, as was the Miss St loss Saturday, but there is only one correct answer to "worst loss ever": @ Tulane 1981. 7-48 to a team w/ a 5-5 record. The game was rated as a tossup, and I remember jumping up and down when Bill Elko made an interception deep in the Tiger red zone when Tulane was already leading 0-14! LSU made a couple of first downs, and then punted the ball down to the Tulane 3! So what happened then? Tulane drove the ball all the way down the field, held on to the ball for over 8 minutes, and kicked a FG right before halftime. Needless to say, the second half was much, much worse.
Yup. Vince Gibson, the Tulane coach at the time, called a fake punt late in the game when the Wave was already up 41-7, I believe. I also recall him smoking a big, Tuberville-style cigar after the '81 game. Its what made the 1982 loss so bad. LSU had just routed Florida State to clinch an Orange Bowl bid. Instead of getting payback on Tulane, LSU couldn't stop the Greenies all night and lost 31-28.

I have never seen someone go from a sunshine pumper cheeriO to a negaO (realist) as quickly as you.

I feel like there is hope for this fan base.

It is the true nail in the coffin end of the competitive era for LSU we enjoyed since early 2000s.

Honestly, I'd rather lose to moo state on the road than lose to UAB at home in 2000.

That was pretty bad.

After witnessing LSU's Oline and Dline getting owned, and the preparation on both sides of the ball for LSU being pathetic, I had Jesus moment. LSU certainly isn't going to heal anyone's pain.

MSU beating us 37-7 is more pathetic than one of Bama's best teams in history beating us 21-0 IMO.

One of these games meant 'everything' to LSU, and one of them did not. So saying the Miss. St game loss is worse, is well, just dumb.

2011 Alabama is one of the best college football teams of all time

2017 Mississippi State is, well.....not.

Against the best team of the decade?

LSU BEAT THAT TEAM (so called best ever) 9-6 AT BAMA earlier in the year, so no excuses for the 21-0 skull dragging.

That NC loss was the WORST EVER loss in LSU history bar none because of the affect it had on the program. We have been going downhill ever since.

I think if TM7 doesnt get kicked off the team we beat Florida for sure and very likely beat Bama again and are right back in the SECCG in 2012 with another look at the NC. To me that was the real beginning of the downfall.

That may be true but only because there may be several more games like it yet to come
