Charles Hannigrif just said on Sports Today in Baton Rouge that there was off-season hype around Matt Canada's offense and that by game 3 Orgeron told him no more 4 wide sets, stop running the quarterback and no more up tempo. Anyone have any insight on this? That's a really serious allegation and if untrue I have a pretty big issue with a BR host radio saying something like that (again if it's not true).

Wasn’t it due to the depleted line not being ready/healthy enough to handle the up tempo/blocking?

Sounds 100% true if you saw the team after the BYU game in 2017. It was a massive talking point on here that one of our most athletic assets, WRs, weren't being used properly or creatively after being forced into constant 2 or 3 WR sets. It fricking sucked.

Orgeron definitely did it cuz our OL was terrible but you would think that a coach at the D1 level could find creative ways to pass protect but nah O handcuffed Canada all season long.

It is still funny seeing O die hards blame Canada for our issues as a whole in 2017. If Canada was the issue then why the hell did we pay him all that money to GTFO?

It was a dumb hire. I don't know if it was pushed on Orgeron, but they clearly didn't share the same vision on offense. That's a huge fricking problem and set this team back another year making the change. All the young guys that were progressing had to go learn an entirely different offense again.

It's why people taking a wait and see approach to the offense this year aren't being unreasonable.

It also isn't unreasonable to be optimistic about the offense this season.

Both sides will go at it like mad men though.

At this point who really cares about Canada. That’s over with.

We're all glad Canada is gone, and this is not news.

I predict that in this thread, all the usual suspects will debate all the same arguments they debate most days.

They had like 5 defensive linemen during the early part of that season. O and Aranda both didn’t want the offense to be no huddle. It was the right call for the situation you were in at that time. Canada got upset and ran to Alleva and that’s why they had to have a meeting.

O made a mistake and hired Canada to please the fans and the administration but he was not the right guy for that team.

So you still have that opinion?

You idiots REALLY thought in the first year that things would be great? Canada was a disaster and none of the team bought in to it. He exposed the little qb talent we had to injury, and our OL sucked.
Argue away, but the O hire is turning into being a home run..if he wins 10 this year.

The first two weeks were against scrubs. Week 3 we put up a total of 7 points against Miss State, and that combined with Canada's abrasive personality and Orgeron's fear of losing the fan base probably prompted him to make changes. Of course, a few weeks later we only put up like 21 against Troy, so what I take from this is that Canada was a bad fit who changed too much too fast for O's liking. Just a bad hire.

So, where does the fault lie for hiring Canada in the first place? If all you said is true.

I'll give you 11. Not calling it a home run with 10.

Why doesn't he know shite? Because he thinks something you don't want to believe? If you are saying what Hanni said is false, tell us what the truth is.
