Just a novice here, but then why not adjust, do easier routines, and win the meet if that’s the ticket to a NC?

Then your coaches need to adjust. If the judging is the same every year, and you coach your gymnasts to do the same stuff every year, then you’re not going to win.
Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is the definition of insanity.

The main problem with gymnastics is that there are too many different routines.
There needs to be a set of 2 routines you can perform per event. Every team every meet should have to execute the same 2 routines between their 6 passes. Period.
That would take a HUGE amount of potential favoritism out of the judges' hands.
Also, deduction values need to be posted EVERYWHERE for all to see. Along with the judges scores & where/why they deducted. Period. Take all uncertainty OUT of the sport.
