If he wanted to go, LSU wouldn't have to pay him a nickel. Canada fought with staff members. Full stop. In spite of that his contract was guaranteed. LSU could've fired him and would've still owed $3.4MM. Canada could've sued to get his full, legally owed value but accepted less in exchange for sealing the reasons behind the dismissal.

Guy is a great offensive coach who would have def been an asset for the program. He's brought success to the Mandeville program that they have never seen before. What does having Div 1 players have to do with being a great coach? Can you name anyone from Mandeville that has ever went to a Power 5 school in recent memory? Madeville is a public school who doesn't recruit so you can only coach up the kids that live in your district. If Guy was the head coach at a school like Karr or West Monroe they would win state every year.
And for the record Guy is a state champion. He was the offensive coordinator for Salmen when they won state in 2000. And it was due to the offense they won. So GFY bitch

The day I melt about a career high school coach not being hired to LSU's staff is the day I stop being a LSU fan. This isn't fricking Vanderbilt or Ole Miss. The way fans are lowering their expectations for Orgeron is absolutely ridiculous.

Canada was fired. Ed didn't want him here. Aranda didn't want him here. Most of the other offensive staff didn't want him here. He was fired!
The reason we didn't pay him the full amount was a negotiated settlement that allowed him to get another job without reducing LSU's payout while getting LSU off the hook for the full amount in case he didn't get a job soon for an amount similar to the LSU salary. Known settlement vs. possible $3.3M total payout if he couldn't get a job or he took a volunteer position somewhere for two years. Plus the benefit to one, or both sides, was that certain situations remained confidential. I believe that favored Canada in a search for a new job, but maybe not.

That makes sense only from the LSU side. Why would Canada take half of what he was owed? LSU was on the hook for the money, not Canada. Canada took it because LSU was offering something he wanted - silence.

On the list of coaching hire frickups by LSU, hiring LeCompte as an analyst is down the list. Not saying it was good but its no where near the ones we should be concerned about.
And FWIW multiple former college and professional fb players who have worked with him say he has a great offensive mind.
