Won a CWS as a freshman closer with great off speed pitches and never got back close to that level again.

Matty Ott was amazing his freshman year. Guidry had a solid freshman season

Ott as a freshman was 1000x better than Guidry as a freshman

He had a slider out of the zone that hitters couldn’t lay off of.

Once the book was out on him on that score, SEC hitters realized he had a flat, 84 mph batting practice fastball which he had to rely on if he was gonna throw strikes.

I left the house when they put Guidry in. Told my wife he gives a HR up every inning and he’s obviously got naked pics of Jay, bc Jay continues to lose games with him.

Ott was fine deep into 2010 until Pawl decided to turn him into a starter after Ott was extended in an extra inning Sunday win over Alabama.
