I’m a Yankees fan and LSU fan and I’ve been following Griffin closely. I think this is good for him. The Yankees will obviously promote a pitcher to the majors, but they have always preferred to acquire known commodities when it comes to pitching 90% of the time.

I think Colorado is absolutely perfect for him. He will get a shot much more quickly. All the people complaining about Colorado don’t pay attention. It won’t affect him nearly as much as others. He’s not hard throwing and doesn’t give up home runs. He’s only allowed three through 89 innings, this season. I’m excited he’s going to get a shot soon.

A good opportunity for Herring.

Hope he takes advantage to get to the big leagues sooner.

Do you think time spent in the altitude magically makes a pitcher worse or something adjust his stats

He can enjoy Hartford and Albuquerque before he thinks about Denver

Damn. And he was tearing it up in the minors too. He's gotta be feeling a bit ticked off today.

Colorado Rockies.........where pitcher's careers go to die

Was literally going to post the same words. There are many examples. The main 2 that come immediately to mind since they also pitched for the Astros are Darryl Kile and Mike Hampton.

Both stayed two years and were lucky enough to get out. In Kile's 2 years there his ERA was 5.20 and 6.61, then he went to St Louis and had an ERA in the 3's for three straight years until his untimely death.

Hampton had 5.41 and 6.15 ERA, then went to Atlanta, where he was serviceable but never great again.

Theory is that the altitude in Denver fricked with their curveballs.

The lefty prospect who came in the trade, Griffin Herring (No. 5)? One has to go back further for his connection to Flint Wallace, the Rockies’ coordinator of pitching strategies. “He coached my 7U team,” Herring said. Seven and under? That's way back. The team was the Wolfpack, in Aledo, Texas.

Interesting connection. Also I think both prospects realized their path to the bigs didn’t go through the Bronx.

Herring has connections to Rockies

Was in Denver this past weekend. That ballpark is beautiful. The team has lots of loyal fans who will support a winner.

So maybe move the fences back? Would that work?

i mean he is still mid 90s but i get your point as he relies way more on tail of the fast ball and off speed.

I do not think it will be good for him long term unless he gets traded once in the majors or AAA. The reason being is the developmental team for the yankees is up there with the astros and dodgers as one of the best in the majors and prolly has the best performance S&C coach in Cressey when it comes to pitchers. That what hurts him most long term.

I do think it helps him get to majors faster though, so kind of damned if you do, damned if you dont.

Oof. For 2025. Coors Field has had 582 runs scored over 52 games for an average of 11.2 runs a game (combined home and away).

April High/Low: 23/3
May High/Low: 22/2
June High/Low: 22/4
July High/Low: 16/5

Sheesh. Those are some outrageous numbers for baseball.
