USC is a dumpster fire now.

I love it.

Yes, and there's a LOT of people on this board who would have loved for us to pass on him as well. I never understood why some people, allegedly from Louisiana, were mocking his accent and questioning his intelligence, calling him "shrimp boat captain," exhibiting the very same prejudices against the culture of southern Louisiana as those West Coast prima donnas in the USC administration.

I'm so happy for Coach O and so grateful that he is the man leading the Tigers. I know we all feel the same way now, and I hope his success has led some people to perhaps adopt a little more humility when they are tempted to judge someone's abilities and character based on nothing but their pre-conceived notions.

I'm glad you pointed that out, because when Orgeron was announced as the next LSU head coach, Tiger Droppings was 90% anti-Orgeron. Matt Moscona was leading the charge on FM radio with how Alleva was an idiot for making this hire. These same anti-Orgeron people are now posting about how USC were idiots not to hire him.

After the coaching change, I wrote this of Orgeron: “He deserves to be a head coach somewhere, and his passion-driven style would work well in a small market with lower expectations.”

Yeah, like LSU in the Southeastern Conference? Yeah, I was an idiot. The Ed Orgeron era exposed lots of folks as idiots, none of whom were Ed Orgeron.

Heard today recruiting class is currently rated #80 for Trojans

I just dont see how that's possible. They're in fricking Southern California with the most tradition of any team in that conference. I would think there would be enough top level prospects that were committed to USC since they were kids to keep recruiting respectable regardless of who the coach is. That's just mind boggling.

I've always hated USC but I cant lie, I feel sorry for their fans. Their fans loved Coach O and wanted him. And the current administration seems to be just fine with the way things are going. It's like our hatred of Alleva/F King on steroids what I'm seeing from some USC fans.

Good article until the 3rd to last paragraph. Douche Bag takes a shot at Coach O for some issue that occurred to him 29 years ago. 29 years and he feels like he needs to bring it up, he said all that good stuff about him just to try and discredit him some at the end. Screw the writer and USC!

I was one of those idiots who hated the hire as a HC and couldn’t be happier about pointing out how wrong I was In my defense I-wanted him to stay as recruiting coordinator just not as the HC.

Thx for sharing Solid piece of journalism stating the facts on how Pat Haden truly F’kd up and many “experts” discredited Orgeron because of his Cajun persona

i too enjoyed the read.
glad USC overlooked Coach because of his Cajun mannerism and Louisiana upbringing.

but i gotta say; early on many here on TD have said some awful things about Coach EdO.
but, the true Tiger fans here are proud and support him and love him.
proud for LSU and the Tiger Football Program, and for Louisiana.

Of course, he couldn't help but get a dig into O by bringing up the past. It was a stretch and didn't even fit in the article, but whatever to somehow make himself feel better in his misery.

In USC's defense, Orgeron would have stayed for only a year or two before going to LSU.

Yeah, how many of those “experts” resided right here on Tiger Rant?

I don't know. Orgeron really liked USC and their culture. LSU would have been a draw but good chance he stays in LA and gets the Trojans running

I will answer this. Because people wanted him only because he was from LA. Our fanbase spent 11 years ripping our last coach for his speech. So it shouldn't surprise you.

USC shouldn't be kicking themselves. He wasn't a good fit there. Regardless of what people think, LSU was never a rebuild and it's painfully obvious we just needed the rt guy to install a modern offense to fit the qb. The majority of the pieces were in place here to win.

I’m not sure he would be having this level of success at Southern California. I’m sure he would be doing well, but I think his roots in Louisiana and his passion for LSU is a major contributor as to the success they are having. I don’t think that should be overlooked at all.

Sad that what a lot of the USC folks thought/said about Orgeron then were repeated by LSU folks after he was hired as head coach.

I am so glad they were wrong.
