Doug gave the statistic that 72% of all balls that are hit are outs. Really makes you wonder what it the crap is going on with our pitchers??? You would certainly think if its a mechanical issue, the pitching coach would recognize it. I never played anything above high school baseball and certainly never pitched, but when your main job is to go out there and throw strikes, you've got to be able to do it. I don't know, some of you who pitched in high school or college, what gives???

It may be as simple as pitch calling.

it seems like when most of our guys throw strikes the other team gets hits. that 72% isn't holding up. maybe their strikes aren't good strikes. a lot of that is they get behind in counts so often that they come down the pike with a hittable fast ball.

Maybe the stage is too big for some of these pitchers ?

If this is the case, then they better start calling for them to throw the damn ball over the plate.

We have a 9 run lead and Little is walking guys on 4 pitches.

Just amazing to watch

Little should never see the field again, period!

I’m admittedly not a massive baseball guru but DT made a lot of sense when he mentioned the pitch counts setting up not in favor of the pitchers. When you’re constantly getting down 2-0, 3-1, 3-0 etc, it’s just like an offense having to play 3rd and long all game. You’re always giving the advantage to the opponent in that scenario as well as becoming predictable. It’s also where a ton of turnovers happen.

When you’re behind in the count like that, the hitters are consistently comfortable and the pitchers are consistently stressed.

They get behind in the count so much because we throw so many breaking balls that we can’t control.

That's what I say!! There are 8 other guys on the field with you, give them a chance to make a play!

What are the chances that two highly respected pitching coaches come in and suddenly forget how to call pitches?

Is it a pattern yet?

They aren’t that good. I could get my hacks in on Collins, the Hefty Lefties, Dutton, etc. Those guys look like CUSA at best.

Little looks like he should be good and throws like someone scared of competition.

Hurd needs a shrink.

Coleman looks like Charlie frickin Liebrandt now.

Floyd has the command of an 8th grader.

They all suck. This team is a regional #2 without Skenes.

It happens when you value velocity over command.

There is an approach with our second and third time through the lineup that is very concerning.

You have some pitching experience. What are you seeing that makes you say that?

After Skenes and Floyd, nobody can consistently throw strikes. That’s a pattern. There’s no way these pitchers got to LSU by pitching this poorly wherever they were last. If it was two or three relievers who were struggling you could put the blame on them. But when it’s the entire bullpen, you gotta look to the coaching.

That's the point. You can't throw meatballs and get a lot of outs. It's not balls in the strike zone that gets them out, it's well placed balls, both in and out the zone, that gets them out. When a pitcher loses control, and gets down in the count, he has to throw a fastball in the zone to avoid the walk. Everyone knows it, and it usually gets hit hard.
