Yeah, it's much brighter to call for a guy who has yet to play a down in practice to be the starter, huh.

Is there any chance that Kragthorpe does something about Jefferson's throwing motion? His windup gives him no accuracy; he has a tendency to throw it too high or too low.

When I got to ESPN, I quite reading. I don't believe anything those idiots say......He must not have seen JJ play this year.

There's always a chance and it might be happening already...who knows.

JJ has been to camps where I assume he has had instruction on this weakness and others. I would think GR would have tried to work on this as well.

We will see what happens in the spring. I was disappointed with JJs progress at the beginning of the year, but encourged with his play, for the most part, starting with the Bama and for the rest of the year.

We will see............

Maybe. Even with his practice reps at UGA the guy has never played a down in the SEC. JUCO is JUCO. I really do hope he becomes the go to guy, but JJ's wheels and experience may make position sharing more viable.

Bingo!
That's the truth of the matter right there. We have NO IDEA what Mettenberger will do as a first year starting quarterback in the SEC. Let him PROVE it before everyone starts clamoring for him to be the starter.

Nick Saban couldn't figure out WTF to start in 2004. In case you don't remember, he had some QB issues here in 2000 between Booty & Davey, as well, though Davey's bum knee fixed that for him to a large extent.

Wow, coaches aren't very reliable...

I think Jefferson could turn out decent

Played really well in the bowl game.

I still think he has major accuracy issues, but he has the ability to play at a high level.

I like his mobility

when he has extra time to prepare for games, he shows up big..

BAMA was a big game, we had a bye week

Bowl game, obviously had lots of time to prepare

Yeah but Mett doesn't have the "wheels" to be LSU's QB. People can say this or that about all 3 of the QBs, but if you read the replies and who they come from over and over, it's obvious.

I hope Krags can prepare the QBs and have all 3 ready to play. I hope and pray that JJ = Jason Campbell. I hope he doesn't throw a single pick the entire year. I hope he leads LSU to an undefeated national title. We'll just have to wait and see how it turns out. It would take JJ being seriously injured for him to not start against Oregon. No amount of whining on here is going to change that fact. He's Les's guy thus, he'll be LSU's QB next year.

You should post on a sane board then.

They don't like these type topics on the Recruiting Board.

Many people share those same thoughts, even I have said whoever wins the job deserves it. I have also stated no one should be "given" a job just because they're an upperclassman. Especially not with a completely new system in place, one each player has to learn.
I think Jefferson and Lee have developed bad habits over the years under Crowton and I express doubts Krag can correct those habits in 6/7 months.
Mett is more of a fresh slate and from video we have seen does not posses some of those habits yet. Yes I know he hasn't played in the SEC but I have also stated several other players who were young and had never played who performed well. Yes you can name ones who did not, of course you have guys 3 years at a school and perform poorly like Jefferson last year.
I think LSU offense has more potential upside with Mett at the helm, that is my opinion. I do not expect Sam Bradford numbers but I do expect balance and the offense able to move the ball both vertically and on the ground.

The stats he gives are based on JJ's YPA on passes of 11 yds or more over final 4 games of last season, and that # is better than likes of Colt Mccoy, Bradfort and Clausen over 6 game breakdown over each of their last 2 seasons.

Completely and utterly he cherry picked out the stats, I just read the article and he neglects ULM game which was after Alabama. If you include the ULM game in his numbers they all decrease...

Those are the very reasons many of us on this board don't want the starting job simply given to him because he's the incumbent. We only have two games on the slate right now with extra time to prepare.

Now, if you want to pencil him in as the starter for those two games, then I could probably go with that. Otherwise, let's see an open, honest competition and let the best QB play - not the guy coaches hope will 'come around' at some point.

I know with football gone we have to fill the void but why does the Miles/Krags have to decide right now who starts at QB or even in the spring? I am hoping that both JJ and Mett are allowed to play and battle it out on the field in the games and one emerges. Competition is good in football. It will push both players. No matter who starts it will be nice to have depth at QB. I am so hoping JLee stays. I respect the kid a lot. I think he represents LSU with class and without him last year we go 8-4 regular season.

Lets not forget Lee was the #5 drop back passer by Rivals when he came out of high school, maybe all he lacked so far was coaching, which he may get now with Kragthorpe, and thus blossom

i wonder how many of these"3rd & 19's" were brought on by TERRIBLE qb play on 1sr & 2nd downs.why not mention that ?

And Tebow was Tebow and Cam didn't take his job at UF as a freshman/1st year starter...and Tebow didn't start as a freshman over Chris Leake. Cam is a freak of nature, no one believes Mett is that caliber all around athlete. Fairly was a JUCO and played a whopping 2-games in 2009 his first year at AU in a position much easier to learn than QB. JUCO player track records of success are very spotty which is why most coaches lay off of them if at all possible. Many have a lack of discipline that put them there to begin with.

You guys need to lay off the crack. If Mett is the best he will play, if not you better hope JJ is improved and plays well consistently. I don't get the hate, it's not like they all don't have the desire to win.
