Not that I think LSU will make it, but Ohio State has another loss coming.

True. And that loss will mean jack shite to the committee if the finish with 1 loss and are Big 10 champs.

I don't know about that, but it would take more than 2007, for sure. And we won the SEC that year and still needed 4 key games the last weekend, 2 of them pretty unlikely (*cough* Pitt over WV *cough*) to go exactly right.

It's over that UF game hurts, think Sugar Bowl...

LSU could beat 7-8 of those. Bama is just that far ahead of the pack. Clemson the only team in their league this year and maybe not even them.

If LSU had Clemson or Notre Dame's schedule, we'd be undefeated.

Both of those programs have played multiple teams equivalent to or better than Florida

Even with out shitty offense, there isn’t another team in the top 10 other than Bama that we couldn’t go toe to toe with.

Anybody thought the committee knew D White should not have been suspended so LSU was not at full strength vs Bama.

Well, I don't think it will happen, but there is a possibility. Here's how:
Alabama, Clemson, and Notre Dame win out.
Michigan loses bad to Ohio State, who then loses to Northwestern in the B1G-CG. B1G winner has 3 losses, and Michigan has 2.
UGA is out with a big loss to Bama in SECCG and a big loss to LSU.
Oklahoma beats West Virginia on 11/23, but loses to Iowa State in the BIGXII-CG. Winner of BIGXII has three losses and Oklahoma has 2. (Oklahoma beat ISU by only 10 in the first matchup.)
Washington State loses to either Washington in the Apple Cup or to Utah in the PAC12-CG. Winner of PAC-12 has at least 2 losses. (WSU beat Utah by only 4 in the first matchup.)
This is the nightmare scenario for the playoff. They would have to choose from a whole bunch of 2 & 3 loss teams.
-- LSU would have schedule advantage over them all.
-- LSU would lose helmet-test to Michigan and Oklahoma, but they would have really bad losses and would not be conference champions either.
All of that to get a chance to play Bama in the Cotton Bowl.
Not going to happen, but that is the roadmap.

ETA: I think we would get crushed by Bama again if that were to happen.

Question: What odds to you give LSU beating the gumps in a re-match? Scoring points?
I'll wait.

There is zero chance that a 2 loss LSU gets in over a 1 loss Ohio State

quote:Not to mention the absolute shite schedule Alabama plays compared to the one LSU plays. Alabama looked fresher. LSU has speed all over. We know that. And fricking Tua was pulling away? Easy to understand when you consider Alabama hadn't played a starter in the 4th qtr all year prior to LSU and LSU has been tolling away at Top 25 teams.
anybody thought the committee knew D White should not have been suspended so LSU was not at full strength vs Bama.
frick them!

The reason LSU is ranked so high is because they have literally played the hardest schedule in college football and they gone 7-2. It's tough to really look to harsh on a team for that. Especially considering we also creamed Georgia. I think it's fair.

Clemson would beat the dogshit out of LSU so probably best to shy away from knocking their schedule

quote:this is correct. Maybe a two-loss, non-conference, non-division winner will sneak into the playoffs one year if all the chips fall the right way, but no way the committee puts in a team that got thoroughly dominated, at home, like we did, in November. It just won't happen. Other teams will jump us.
I don’t see how a two loss LSU team can overcome a loss that bad.

LSU wins out impressively, finds some offense stats
Ohio State loses then gives Michigan a second loss
West Virginia beats OK then loses champ game
Notre Dame loses twice
Bama beats UGA and wins out
Wazzu Loses again, badly
Then maybe. But a very small chance. Very. Small.
