Golic and wingo this morning on LSU and the CFP..

Started out the segment with saying how the biggest surprise in the new rankings was that LSU didnt fall further than 7th. They felt wazzu and OSU should have jumped them based on the fact that LSU got shut out at home
The segment ended with all 3 Golic, Golic jr., and Wingo saying that the only team ranked in the top 10 that has absolutely no shot of making the playoff no matter what happens is LSU and that their ranking only serves as a bench mark for how good bama is.
Take it fwiw, I think they’re salty over the ranking. I know The chances are very slim but to say there is absolutely no shot dosent sound right

There’s no way LSU is making the playoffs. Absolutely none. The committee will simply have a more deserving team jump them in the final poll, if it came down to having LSU at #4

Teams have been left out of the playoff before for suffering a blowout. I don’t see how a two loss LSU team can overcome a loss that bad. Bama will be #1 barring unforeseen circumstances. No one wants a rematch of that game and it would almost have to be a #1 bama versus #4 LSU.

They are right about one thing for sure.
LSU is ranked over a couple 1 loss teams right now, but if those teams and LSU win out, they will jump us.
There is zero chance that a 2 loss LSU gets in over a 1 loss Ohio State.

They can say what they want about OSU, but a 29-point loss to Purdue isn't going away and their big win was Penn State who got absolutely blasted by Michigan. LSU having a 20-point win against then #2 UGA and wins against 6 winning teams is still stronger than anyone else as far as who they have beaten and the tough schedule they have played. LSU has played 6 top 25 defenses.

Yeah we're not getting into the playoff, but this should remove any doubt that if we win out we're in a NY6 game whether it be Sugar, Peach, or Fiesta. And that's huge for the program moving forward.
