Kevin Sumlin @ TAMU would be all the proof I need of this. I’ll add more though. LSU has went undefeated in September & October to face plant in November. The next 4 games will tell us everything we need to know. I’m happy for the players that they are able to enjoy the wins. Let’s pump the brakes on this asinine playoff talk and beating Georgia/the gumps ranting.

I think you face planted with this post.

It's the foundation you build now that pays off in the end. If you don't TCB in September, who gives a crap how you finish. In CFB, 2 losses in September means your season is pretty much over. Getting over that first hurdle was huge, but we have to keep getting better because it only gets harder.

but it’s much more fun when it’s November & that is the case.

Right, but going undefeated in november doesn't mean shite if you lose three in september.

No one is booking trips to the natty yet. Most people are just excited that the team has exceeded pre-season doom and gloom predictions and we aren't watching the entire thing fall apart.

Pretty sure that’s not why he was fired. They fired him then because they knew with the weak remaining schedule he would win enough games where LSU couldn’t force him out (Public perception & all.). If LSU didn’t fire him when they did, LSU goes to The Sugar Bowl that year.

It means something when you've beaten two top ten teams away from home.

So the totality of the season doesn’t count, just September?

Well...in September...YES. That is all that counts is September

yall, cut OP some slack.

he probably tried the title

"Going Undefeated In September means something, but not as much as some fans would like it to mean"

but that did not fit so out of laziness he subbed in "nothing"

While the 1st part is true, there was no way LSU was going to lose 3 with the talent & Dave Aranda.

There are a lot of posts on here that at the least suggest LSU will run the schedule or drop only 1. That’s just not realistic with a limited team. You can’t be a homer to the point of being naive. That’s all I’m saying. There’s far too much stupidity on here about beating the gumps. I doubt anyone loathes them more than I do, but this is St. Nick’s best team to date. I have yet to see an offense this dynamic in my life. It’s not whether LSU can play with them. No team can. It sucks to know that another recruiting class of players for LSU will be winless against the gumps. Every year during this stretch I thought LSU had a decent chance, if not picked them to win.

More or less, yeah. I mean the title is too long as it is.

You are half right.

Going undefeated playing a lackluster schedule like Bama has played means nothing.

Their resume for this year is still almost nonexistent even though they're undefeated.

Of course, their past history is quite impressive. However, past performance is no guarantee of future results.

How you finish that matters means more to the NCAA Basketball tournament committee.

No. It’s not that @ all. There’s nothing wrong with taking the wait and see approach when there are obvious questions that have not been answered.

This entire block of text is what is referred to as a collection of opinions. Many, many people predicted LSU to be somewhere around 7 wins this year and they were flat wrong. Criticizing some on this board for not being objective, but going on to say in September this is Saban's best ever team at Bama when their best win is against a very mediocre aTm is hypocrisy at it's finest. They still have to play the games.
