Glaring stats from last nights game

We all know that UALR scored 10 runs last night to secure the victory. However a closer look indicates that 8 of the 10 Trojans that crossed home plate were put on base via a base on balls. Yes, 8 of the 11 walks given up by Tiger pitching came around to score. Only 2 runners who reached base on a hit scored, with one being Cano on his 2 run shot in the 2nd.
All 11 walks came in the 2nd, 3rd & 8th innings, which were also the only innings they scored in. Yes, LR failed to score a single run in the other 5 innings where we did not walk a batter. There were also 4 wild pitches in the game, which didn’t exactly help. But I digress.
Here is an inning by inning breakdown of our self destructive night on the bump.
INN…..R….H…..BB…..K…..WP…..LOB
1…….0……1…….0…..1……2….....1
2…….2……2…….2…..3…...0……..2
3…….4……2…….4…..1…...0….….2
4…….0……2…….0…..1…...0……..2
5…….0……0…….0…..1……0……..0
6…….0……0…….0…..1……0……..0
7…….0……0…….0…..2……0……..0
8…….4……1…….5…..0……2……..2
Silver lining, if there was one: The Tigers did combine for 10 Ks around the walks & only gave up 1 hit after the 4th inning. LSU also pitched a 3 up/3 down inning in the 5th, 6th & 7th.
Bottom line: We must not give up free passes tonight and we have to be patient at the plate & barrel up the baseballs against a depleted pitching staff.

The truth is this, we are either hitting in a slump or whenever were very good in the first place. Our pitching has been suspect all year outside of maybe 3 guys. We have many holes and the fact we cant throw strikes is infurating

That needs to be investigated. Something is going on.

Correct
They are not going to outhit LSU
Not with what they have left to throw for damn sure

Perhaps Jay could pull the pitcher before giving up 3 walks IN A ROW. But nah let’s let it happen twice.

We have 2 aces and then johnny wholestaff. No one took a hold of the 3rd starter weekend spot.

Eight of the 11 walked players scored that is the glaring stat

We just need to throw strikes. I feel pretty good with Cowan, Evans, and possibly Eyanson. They will throw it across the plate

WALKS killed us last night. Poor pitching by multiple pitchers cost us a win.

Poor and inconsistent mechanics

I am still so deeply concerned about Shores. I was 100% confident in him and he just absolutely lost a month of quality pitching when he could not find the strike zone last night.

Body language is bad. Lack of leadership… Pearson might be that guy to get more energy into team and stadium… but he has to play.

The only way a team like Little Rock wins a game over LSU is it's handed to them. It happens more in baseball than any other sport so it's not "shocking" but you still are a bit surprised to see it.
The chances of it happening twice in a row are slim to none.
ETA: I mean, the first 4 runs they scored in the 8th inning came without a single hit. That in and of itself is almost impossible outside of Dixie Youth.

This is one of those games where the deeper you look, the worse it gets.
I’m over it
Win tonight, that’s all that matters

Are you sure about that? The rag arm they had on the mound that dominated them last night was throwing a flat 88 mph fastball. No, it was not a good fastball with movement or anything, it was purely flat meatballs. And every LSU hitter was not sitting on it, which was absolutely dumb.
I wouldn't have the confidence in that especially since LR had a way better plate approach. LR will throw everyone and you can expect to see their starters in at least an inning or 2.

Not hard to draw a walk when the ball is 3 foot out the zone…
Other glaring stats
Runners on 3rd, Less than 2 Out LSU .000 (0-1) LR 1.000 (4-4)
Bases Loaded LSU. 000 (0-2 LR.500 (1-2

It was last night, there was no real sense of urgency. I honestly think the fellas had already chalked this one up as a win and were shocked.

Well we already beat the starter on Friday

You're exaggerating. FB was 89-90 and the SL had good bite.
What happened last night was an anomaly. Just the quirks of baseball. Wrong guy up at the wrong time.
Their pitcher would get in 3-1 and 2-0 counts with pitches that weren't close, then turn into Cy Young with location and movement. If our pitchers could have thrown strikes like theirs did in those counts, we win.

Their approach was made easy by our inability to throw strikes. Our hitters had to swing. Cano fouled off some good pitches. Give him credit. The rest of their team, not so much
