Nuss has to be an effective passer so that we should be able to play a more traditional style of offense.

You mean like in the SEC Championship game vs Georgia.

Nuss will benefit from more pass attempts

You will have to take the good with bad with him. He hasn’t had much of an opportunity to set his own pace in a game, so it’s hard to say exactly what you have with him.

Seems like a lot of you are out of your Midol. Need to replenish. Yes JD had to earn respect just like Nuss will. But as I said originally JD was allowed to progress from yr 1 to Yr 2. And from game 1 this year. Not everyone who wanted Nuss to get a chance meant they were a JD hater. If JD doesn’t start trusting his receivers and letting it rip then he wouldn’t be the QB he is today. I just happened y to believe he could become the QB that played that 3 game stretch last year where he did. I criticized those who wanted him benched last year and just saying Nuss should get the same opportunity to grow with the offense.

The problem with judging Daniels, fans had Burrow's Heisman season in their mind. Daniels was compared to Burrows' greatest year.
Now, in his second year, Daniels has proven he is capable of matching Burrows.
Unfortunately, Nuss will be measured the same way. Unless he competes at the same level, his first season, as Burrow and Daniels, he will be judged a failure.
I expect, like Daniels, he understands and expects that comparison. Like Daniels, I believe he has the strength of character to handle the situation. He and Daniels seem to have similar personalities, in that both are always smiling, laughing and congratulating each other. They appear to be big fans of the other, no matter which is playing.

At his best, he is Oklahoma (not NFL) Baker Mayfield. A guy who is good at running around the pocket slinging it into tight windows for big plays. At his worst, he's unnecessarily forcing passing and needlessly committing devastating turnovers. The key, as Kelly talked about last season, is living with some of the "bad" that comes with the willingness to make "great" plays, and making sure there is more great than bad.

My bigger concern is Denbrock. He won't be able to run this year's offensive approach without Daniels. Can he become more creative to fit Nussmeier's skill set? The offense this season is not all that much different than last year's offense in terms of scheme/approach. It's not terribly creative. It's just that Daniels, the WR, the OL and RBs are executing at a ridiculously high level. Simply trying to do next year what they have done this year won't work with Nussmeier. He's not Daniels

I predict Nussmeier will be one of the more maddening QBs we've seen at LSU in a while. He's going to make some absolutely brilliant throws (like his first TD vs. Georgia last season) that make you think he is the best pure thrower in the country. And in the same game will make some incredibly bad decisions that make you say "WTF is he doing?!!!"

Nuss with an offseason working with WRs will make a huge leap.

Just get the ints cleaned up

You say that as if it’s no big deal when in fact, it’s huge. We can praise an arm as much as we want but if that arm comes with a touchdown to interception ratio of 1 to 1, how much value is it going to be?

Some of us, for whatever the reason, seem unable to accept the fact that their assessment of the ability of JD was about as far off the mark as it could’ve been.

Agree with your assessment.
And for those who say, "be patient, Nuss neeeds time to develop", I don't disagree. But Nuss has played for three years already. He's not a rookie anymore.
His career stats are 1300 yds, 56% completions, 8 TDs 6 Ints.
He has a strong arm and a tight spiral. So did Brandon Harris.
I look for him to be serviceable, at times impressive, but erratic.

That is complete BS.

How many games will Nuss have started in his three years.
How many games did Daniels start in his four years, prior to having an All Star performance?

Nuss's playing history is more like Burrows. Like Burrows he mostly sat the bench. Burrows had some good and bad plays his 1st year as a starter. He threw a pick six vs Florida that ended our chance of a win.

LSU is still going to sign a QB with game experience for competition, that’s just a fact and they should. You can’t hand the ball to Rickie Collins or Collin Hurley next year if something happens to Nuss.

Weird considering that's the exact same backup situation we had with Jayden year 1 and not much better year 2. No one was brought in to compete or to improve the backups.

These are not impressive numbers. A 56% completion average is not acceptable in high school, let alone the SEC. And remember, for the most part he was playing in mop-up time against defenses that had little incentive to play their best. He's had three years to get better and he hasn't. So, temper that enthusiasm with a dose of reality. And watch the portal.

For everyone saying that Nuss needs to be given the opportunity to start since he stayed all this time, Myles Brennan says hello.
I myself like I did with Myles thinks he should be named starting qb after the last game this season.

Myles likely would have been the starter if he hadn't washed out. He also started 1 season and would have another before his injuries. So he in fact was given that opportunity multiple times.

He was 22 of 37 for 346 yards against FL St in game 1.
Tough assessment if you think this is not good.

Nuss’s playing history is more like

Joe never threw an int during his playing time at Ohio State and had 70% completion rate.

The only like thing they shared was the fact neither had much meaning playing time and the main difference was Joe had to adjust to a new school, a new conference, and totally new players and Nuss won’t
