Great job? His best season is a 3 loss season.
When the hell did 3 loss seasons become great at lsu?
Decent season but 3 losses should be our floor because there arent 3 teams more talented than us on this past year's schedule.
ouch.
and did we win the west? or make playoffs? based on OP we did

first 3 years after saban we finished in the top 5...after that he wasn't the great coach some make him out to be...and the reason he is always brought up is the ohaters are still butthurt that their boy got fired. THE WORST coach in Ole Miss history is winning at the same clip as CLM and I think that is killing the CLM guys

Is it more than a little amusing that a great job now includes 10-3, 5-3 for LSU football.
Before, anyone could win 10 games at LSU. Before, 9-3 in a 12 game season with a O better than the one we have now was almost a fireable offense.
It was a good season. A good season that could have been great if not for losses to 2 teams that should have been wins. Hopefully, we can build on this season and even become a challenge to win the west.I believe that is one of the main reasons we made a coaching change almost 3 years ago.

Well that last part is a better arguement (statistically false) but it makes a better point.

2 years after it came down to having to fire your all time winnigiest coach, yea that’s not a bad season at all.
As much as you revere coach miles you should understand the dire circumstances that are put in motion to fire someone with such a distinguished record.
But yea. Should just really hit the ground running after that. You fire a coach but nah, there aren’t any problems anywhere that needed correcting

Absolutely. The NeverO's just can't get over it. Remind me of Hillary Clinton. They waste the bandwidth of the TD site. Same crap over and over. Nothing will change based on their unending negativity...other than discouraging recruits and their parents who are chilled by the poison they spew.
Chicken should have a filter that somehow keeps them in check. They do nothing but hurt the LSU football program.

All that being said, the problem is not with those guys, it’s with the previous classes.
White, Divinity, Thornton, Thompson, Alexander? I understand Alexander wasn’t great, but he was serviceable.

So coming into 17’ you had basically a gaggle of Freshmen at LB.
No, you had White, Divinity, Thompson, and Alexander with the Freshman getting reps. Taylor was the only freshman that started a game.

There needed to be guys from previous classes there & there werent.
There were several, including the best LB we’ve had come through the program in a LONG time.

losing to 2 top 15 teams on the road in the SEC is a fireable offense now?
In one year? Nah.
But at some point, you have to get over the hump. This year was a good year IF it means we're trending up. If it was the ceiling, it's absolutely a fire-able offense.

The worst coach in Ole Miss history is winning at a clip that got Miles fired, yet this select group of O fans want us to praise Orgeron for it.
That makes no sense.

He has already said he never expects O to win a title at lsu.

Youre happy with the same results and worse offense than what you used to bash incessantly. The only person that has moved their goal posts are posters like you.

I mean I’m sorry but that’s not impressive. Alexander & Thornton provide nothing
Thompson had to be moved down from safety
Divinity was playing ILB & not where he is now.

Yea that’s what I’m saying. You had a guy like Alexander playing & Thompson who you moved down from safety the year before. Stop gaps on paper at best, tho Thompson ended up playing well.
All your talent & backups were freshmen. Chassion started multiple games & played a lot too. By the end of the year Philips & Taylor were seeing a lot of reps. I’m not sure what you are trying to argue here tbh

ANTI-O? Why? Just because? Nothing will change your mind so go ahead and be negative. Your posts can be ignored!

Meh. Right now, it looks like LSU will finish in the top-10 with a top-5 recruiting class after winning a NY6 bowl game. It's a good season.
LSU is a top-10 program which should have top-10 finishes.
I'm not upset at the results, per se, but I am upset LSU lost 3 games due to an ineffective offense -- the very issue LSU was supposed to get fixed under Orgeron.
Until LSU gets their offense fixed -- against Alabama, not UCF, BTW -- they'll be a perennial underachieving also-ran.

Yes, same clip. Other than the multiple championships.Other than those. Same clip though.

Yes, the offense looked like garbage at times, but he's worked his arse off and they have improved.
HE worked his arse off to improve the offense over the season? What exactly did “he” do?
Leaving that one alone, the offense actually got worse as the season went on.
MSU, Alabama, and Arkansas at the end of the year was the worst stretch the offense had.
A 7OT game where the O only scored 24 in regulation and a bowl win over one of the worst defenses in the country doesn’t mean all of a sudden the offense has overcome its deficiencies.
I do believe this offense will improve over the offseason as Burrow has more time in the system and new RB talent arrives, but touting some sort of improvement over the course of the year, and then somehow trying to credit O for it, is just not how things played out at all.

Alexander was 6th on the team in tackles. He wasn't great, but how many teams have two great ILBs except for Bama?
quote:
Thompson had to be moved down from safety
Does that somehow take away from his play? Beckwith had to be moved from DE, Stephens has to be moved from safety. Thompson was a solid LBer.

Thompson was more than a stop gap.

Lol, I like how you conveniently forget that the most talented LB we've had come through the program was not a freshman.

How ridiculous your statement that Miles left no talent at LB is.

Just wanted to make sure this doesn’t slip through the cracks.
This is the kind of batshit crazy thought process it takes for one to loathe Miles and his time in Baton Rouge yet fully and zealously defend Orgeron and his time thus far.
Thanks for showing your true look, Brook Trout
