He lives in Florida 6 months out of the year. He heads to Chicago for football season.

He is a really nice guy.

If I ever see him I will thank him for not only bringing back the magic but also for bringing Lou tepper here. If that doesn’t happen we never get nick saban and our championship.

I think he works for the Big Ten Network. He is a regular guest on a lot of sports shows during football season. Does a real good job.

I think it’s overlooked that when Morris Watts left after the ‘98 season Bob McConnell was promoted to OC. This was essentially Dinardo taking over the offense . Davey and Booty looked a little better the next year under Jimbo I would say. Dinardo was hard headed and it wasn’t just Tepper.

He did a lot of good things here. Forced the admins kicking and screaming to spend money of facilities and much of what we have in that regard he pave the way, started the Gridiron Club and the Recruiting Bash.

Yeah, Tepper was an issue not IMHO because the hiring in and of itself was as bad a hire as most think, but because one of the assistants was butthurt because he didn't get the DC gig and he and another assistant made it their mission to undermine the program in every way possible because of that.

And firing either of those two assistants was political suicide, so from that moment on he put himself in a no win situation.

No doubt the McConnell offense was crap but Tepper’s 1998 defense laid waste to a very good offense and team. Losing Carl Reese and Watts in back to back seasons destroyed Dinardo’s career. His paranoia and bunker mentality assured his demise. The 1999 team was in total disarray.
Dinardo is a good guy and he did some good things but he was never getting LSU to the next level.

Carl Reese and Morris Watts brought back the magic.

Agree! His lack of quality replacements for staff that left was a predictor of his doom.
Rich Rod was begging for the job of OC and instead he promoted McConnell.
Most of his staff, toward the end of his tenure, were out of coaching or were never heard of a short time later.

Didn’t mean to ruffle any feathers with the toll booth comment. Just remembered it was another former Vandy coach that did that after retiring, Robert "Woody" Widenhofer.
