It's on film and you can bet Nicky, Steve and Urban filed that away in their LSU playbooks.

I like the fact that when teams watch film next year they'll see this and have one more thing to think about in preparing for LSU. Put some doubt in their minds on every play.

After what Spurrier did to us in the 90s, I don't have much sympathy on "mercy" pleas. Like SOS said, if you don't want him to run up the score, play some defense.

I suppose some here would have been fine with LSU taking a knee on every play in the second half in order not to offend GT's sensibilities. Probably the same LSU fans who were deathly afraid of this match up prior to the game.

I have no problem with the fake. GT had the opportunity to twart the fake but didn't have the ablility. That's where their pride was hit the hardest.

Its a game. Screw them if we're better at it than them.

I guess I did. What was the situation?

Right, because nobody would ever expect less Miles to run a fake field goal, fake punt, or go for it repeatedly on 4th down and hey aren't already preparing for those things every time they face him.

the idiots complaining about this fake punt are the same idiots that would be on here crucifying the coach if we had stopped trying to score and GT had made a comeback. these people are going to find something to complain about no matter what.

GOOD, I hope they did file it away. Maybe they will hesitate next punt, or leave a couple of guys to prepare for the possibility so that Trindon can get a big run back for a TD.

What is funny is if GTech was up by the same margin and they pulled this play, EVERY LSU fan would be whining.

I guess I'd have to do a little digging to find out the exact situation. I don't remember much about the begging of the '05 season.

I'm not in that catagory of complaining. I wish he would have saved it for Nicky or Urban. We already caught Steve with his pants down.

Why not try something like that in a game situation. I loved it....I just Jefferson would have played earlier....

Save that for a game when it is really needed.

Ummmm ... it's the last game of the season. No sense leaving a delightful play go stale on the shelf. There are yet more innovative fake punt plays to be designed and executed, first in the mind of GC, then on the field.

Besides which, it wasn't so much that LSU was trying to run the score up, methinks, as it was CLM putting his D in a position to walk out of the Georgia Dome having completely and totally shut GT out of the end zone.

I was impressed at the class a number of LSU's leading defensive players showed their outgoing co-D on the sideline in the waning minutes of the game. They were hugging and back-slapping him, following the classy lead of their HC. After the co-D debacle this year, it had to feel good for Mallory and Peveto to head out to their new jobs on a high note. It was nice to see CLM handle the situation without the further humiliation and embarrassment of publicly firing the co-D's.

It was pure class to enable them to find new jobs and it was pure class by LSU's defensive players to give some end of game props to the departing co-Ds (while I'm very glad to see them go, I am equally glad they get to go with dignity ... and I wish them well in their new jobs).

As to GT's outrage, well, next bowl game, might I suggest doing your arrogant swagger on the football field instead of in the press ... and, GT, you managed to forget this: no matter how crappy and disappointing LSU's 2008 season has been, this is still the SEC and we are LSU, defending 2007 National Champions!

FOREVER

I am not really mad about the fake punt although it was classless. I am mad at the 3 points we scored in the second half. No reason why we shouldnt have scored more. We had a fumble recovery in the red zone and a fake punt that put us on the 30. How didnt we score more?

You can't have it both ways. Stop crawfishing and cut your losses.

I can't remember if the punter was Donnie Jones or not but Miles told him if coverage looked good and thought he could make the pass go for it. It was also in the first quater. Miles was our coach less than 15 min.

Sweet highlights of blocking FG's and punts in that game.

I agree with everything you said in your post.
I commented to a friend yesterday that I don't give Miles credit for much, but to allow these guys to get other jobs and not firing them outright was a classy move. Don't know if it was the right move, but classy none the less.
