re: Contacting a restaurant for bad service..

But seriously, owners and managers say they want to hear from the customer, but they really don't.
it is easy for people who work in customer service to get jaded because so many people complain about shite that really isn't a problem or make up stuff to get something for free. but good management always wants to know if there is a real problem.
i recently had an excellent experience contacting a manager. I had a horrible service experience, as did the people around me. I sent a long email to management, outlining all of the problems I had, as well as the problems I observed around me. The next morning, I received a phone call from the manager. He apologized profusely, and thanked me for all of the feedback. I declined free stuff but he insisted on mailing vouchers anyway. And told me to introduce myself next time i visited.
i went again a week later, and the manager I spoke with on the phone happen to walk by. I did as he had asked, and introduced myself. I hadn't brought the vouchers, because I didn't really want anything for free. When we went to leave, we learned that he had comped our food and drinks.
He did a great job handling the situation, I thought; and i will be a loyal customer because of it.

this. i keep one in my office for a quick cup of coffee, with minimal effort and cleanup. But I don't think it produces a great cup of coffee. simply adequate.

re: Awesome soft side cooler
Posted by Eddie Vedder on 6/9/14 at 1:03 pm
i've had a polar bear 12 pack for about 3-4 years. pulled it out to use a couple of weeks ago, and it started leaking out the bottom, through the fabric, as soon as the ice started melting. that has never happened before; i'm guessing the lining has a puncture but i haven't had a chance to inspect it yet.
overall, i've really liked it; have used it quite a bit over the years. i may take a look at the AO coolers, however, when i look into replacing this one.

FBD was a fireman's 4 at around 8am at DFW. I think this is 7BD: Adelbert the Traveler IPA.
re: Do you hang a flag from your house?
Posted by Eddie Vedder on 5/16/14 at 8:51 am
Only when there is a special occasion. LSU flag on game days in the fall. Marine Corps or American flags on other select days.

Is it possible to do an indirect cook on one of the kettles?

I've got these three. love Weber products. i wanted to get another kettle recently, and decided to get the performer silver (last picture; 22 in kettle in a stand, instead of a tripod.). i use all three quite a bit.

re: Freezing bbq for a trip to the beach
Posted by Eddie Vedder on 5/9/14 at 9:54 am
i freeze leftover BBQ all the time. i find it keeps just fine. for ribs and brisket, i usually wrap in plastic wrap, then a layer of aluminum foil, and then put it in a freezer safe ziplock bag. i don't have a vacuum sealer; thus, the layers of wrapping. pulled pork, I usually just put it in a ziplock bag.

So, what's the difference?
taste and smell. you get a hint of coconut. not overpowering. just enough. but it is more than that..the flavor is different..hard to explain...and it isn't just the coconut flavor.
it was one of the secrets of theater popcorn, and caused controversy when everyone went crazy about the health risks of saturated fats. but now they say coconut oil has the good kind of saturated fat, and thus the controversy dies down.
i don't add butter to popcorn, and only a little salt. thus, i'm not terribly worried about all that. it just tastes good.
re: Blue diamond bold almonds
Posted by Eddie Vedder on 5/8/14 at 1:41 pm
because i read this thread a couple of weeks ago, i went out and bought a few cans of the bold flavors--smokehouse jalapeño, chili lime, and salt/vinegar. all were great but i liked the smokehouse jalapeño best of those three. need to try the others.
i surely didn't need another snack temptation... :banghead:

or you could cook it in a pot with coconut butter and have the best popcorn ever
i gave up microwave popcorn a few years ago, when i rediscovered how great fresh stove-top popcorn can be.
this week, i tried, for the first time, making popcorn using coconut oil. wow. really good. there really is no going back to regular oil.
re: Do you bring your own lunch to work?
Posted by Eddie Vedder on 5/8/14 at 9:31 am
i bring my lunch just about every day. saves money, time, and i tend to eat healthier. but i'll go out to eat a couple of times a month with a couple of people from the office. nice to get out every now and then.
re: The Frustration that is the Avocado.
Posted by Eddie Vedder on 5/6/14 at 11:27 am
good info in this thread. we go through a lot of avocado, and have wasted more than a couple cutting to early.
little Vedder, 20 months old, loves avocado. one of his favorite meals. always keep a few in the frig for him.
